My dad was a damned good hunter. He was small and wiry and could hike forever up and down ridges and hills. I went with him often as a kid. Almost every weekend we had rabbit, squirrel, grouse or fried frog legs for breakfast. Fried squirrel especially makes for really really good gravy for biscuits. It's delicious. Grouse is out of this world delicious. You have to be very patient to be a good squirrel hunter and know where the acorns are. My dad was a big fisherman as well. Ate lake and river fish a lot growing up. He grew up dirt poor so he learned these skill at a very early age.
