Do the names Mike Ramone and Emily Evermoore ring a bell?

Ahh, who gives a shit, the expo is a waste of time now. The award show is for whores, put on by whores who can't read the teleprompter. And sometimes the winning whore doesn't even bother to show up because she's already flushed out of the business (Naomi and Keri Sable come to mind).

As a non-pornographer myself, you can't believe how difficult it is to keep a straight face when the category is "best double anal sex scene" or something equally degrading. And everyone is clapping, the whore is in tears because she won an award for wrecking her bowel movement for the next 40 years. It's tragi-comical, like an Alfred Jarry play.

Funny you should mention Ramone as someone asked me about him this morning. Apparently, he is going around touting how legit the awards were when he was in charge of them and how obviously biased they are now because his pick for performer of the year this time did not win (he reportedly was going around claiming Adriana Chechik should have won). I was told it was on a fanboy forum but not provided a link, pretty darned bold of the guy who was fired for trading influence to make claims like that.

As far as the expo or the award show, they are both popular enough to pay the bills, the awards too popular for the venue according to reports (they were short hundreds of tickets this year). I always had fun at the expo (other than always getting sick) and never attended the show itself, preferring to leave after shooting the red carpet, but I think you're being harsh on them. If you're going to work in a field such as this, isn't it better to be labeled "the best" rather than just another hack? It has impacted rates for feature stripping and escorting as well as garnering more fans to buy stuff for them off wish lists, so why fuss?

Yeah, some take it too seriously, others then see an opening to screw people over in all new ways, but if you look at every industry award process, AVN is better than most in terms of screening out voter biases (they gave the boot to a few voters this year who really needed to go); just how many websites or organizations have more than a couple of people picking their winners?
