God Bless Ozzy Osbourne on Showtime.

not bad overall...it's produced by Sharon for Sharon but there's some pretty honest stuff in it. tommy lee has a really good story segment and Ozzys two kids come off as the pretentious ass wipes that you remember them as from the MTV show. what a couple of cunts those two kids are.

It was interesting. Seemed more real than the show...know what I mean? I bet that one kid ain't on his high horse anymore.

That said, the kid made the decision to not be a junkie anymore, not be a food junkie anymore, basically turned it all around in the space of about a year. Then boom...Michael J Foxxx is looking at him in the mirror. What a kick to the sack.

That kid has all sorts of tattoos, doesn't he? I wonder if stabbing and imbedding lots of possibly toxic ink into the largest organ of your body could perhaps, maybe cause some auto-immune disorders.

Getting excited about the Season 5 premiere of Breaking Bad this evening. This is one of the best shows ever made.

I was going to post the exact same thing. It's a great era for tv. Walt is one of the most compelling characters ever.

@steez. I'm honestly not sure about tattoos. I'd assume that he gets his work done at higher end shops, and the hygiene in tattooing has come pretty far in the last 50 years or so. It's a legit question tho. Do they know what causes MS? Any fake doctors want to jump in?

Breaking Bad is perfectly cast. I was reading the backstory on the development of the series. Very tortured as is the case with most of great entertainment. AMC originally wanted John Cusack or Matthew Broderick as Walt, they both passed. It was going to take place in Riverside, CA and the Walt character was going to be 40. It takes place in New Mexico because of production tax credits and the AMC people thought Walt needed to be 50 because a 40 y/o wouldn't be in such a desperate place. The use of character actors instead of stars makes the show much better. If there were any stars, I think that would detract from the quality. You could argue the Bryan Cranston is a star, but Malcolm in the Middle was about Malcolm, not Hal.

I think the cast and crew realized what they were creating and pulled out all of the stops. You go to work on the standard show, you just do a competent job to keep your job, but when you realize what this is about, you want to really step it up to make the whole greater than the parts. From the acting, writing, directing, cinematography, music, art direction, production design it is pretty damn near flawless.

I can't wait to see how Walt convinces Mike not to kill him. My favorite characters: Saul, Mike and Jesse.

The thing is Cranston is a character actor. The dentist on Seinfeld, Gus Grissom (astronaut?) in That Thing You Do. A ton of other stuff I'm too stoned to remember. Besides Walt, my favorites are Mike and Jesse. A ton of depth, especially Jesse, but subtle. And Walt, Jr. I'm not sure if the actor is disabled or not, but the fact they didn't go "full retard" makes even him compelling. Usually a disability is either full on retard, or at the very least the so sugary sweet innocent/ naive/ protected act. Every little victory garners an "Awww" from the audience. This character is a teenager, with all the self centered goofiness that comes with it. He's not protected from the world by his parents. Not more than any other kid, really. Save the scene in Season 1 when some school kids dumped on him in front of his parents in a clothing store. Walt going quiet serial killer on them was what a real dad would do if a bunch of assholes started shitting on his kid. I'm no fighter, but if a group of letterman jackets dumped on my kid in front of me, they'd know it was a mistake. It's that depth of character that makes the show. Fuck. Great show!

Yeah, it wasn't quite as "Wtf" as the Season 3 introductions. I liked the Scarface reference at the end of the intro.

fucking funny in one of the first eps of the season, nancy said"well i dont like mexicans either,i just got knocked up by one."

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Weeds-Mary-Louise-Parker-Finale-1050907.aspx

For a half-hour comedy, the mood on the final panel for Weeds at the Television Critics Association fall TV previews Monday was surprisingly somber as creator Jenji Kohan and the cast, particularly star Mary-Louise Parker, reflected on the last eight seasons. "I'm just proud of [Kohan] and everybody, and sad," said Parker, who said she didn't want to come to the panel. "All things have to end. I'm just proud of all of us. I think [Kohan] just made something amazing."

After spending season after season on the bubble between renewal and cancellation, Kohan said it was bittersweet going into this season knowing that it would be the last after writing so many possible series finales. "We knew it was the end just before the season started. I was very sad about that because it's been great and it's hard to let go of a good thing," Kohan said. "Once we got the news, I thought, 'Oh sh--, so many times we've written our ending not knowing what is coming next.'"

Showtime boss on Weeds, Big C endings and Dexter's "game-changing" season

As a result, Kohan promised that its last hurrah will be less of a cliff-hanger than in years past — like when Shane killed Pilar or when Nancy was arrested at the airport. "Because we were given the opportunity to know when we were ending, we're not cliff-hanging necessarily," she said. "We're sort of wrapping things up."

The cast is currently shooting the two-part series finale, which will air on Sept. 16. "I just cried when I read it. I think it's beautiful," Parker said of the episode. "I think she just managed to brings thing together in a way. ... She didn't make it a total happily-ever-after thing, but there was hope in it and there was some sort of benediction."

Weeds to end after upcoming season

Although Kohan and the cast offered very few teases about the finale, Kohan said that there will be encore appearances from several familiar faces from Weeds' long and very windy road. "We wanted to bring everyone we could back and everyone who said yes, we brought back," she said. "It's a trip down Memory Lane lined with all of our lovely characters from the past."

Over the years, the shift of characters and locales surprised and sometimes drew criticism from fans. In Season 4, Nancy and her children fled the little boxes of Agrestic for a San Diego border town near Mexico. In Season 6, the family traveled to Seattle before settling in New York City in Season 7. Kohan said she wouldn't have done it any other way. "I think we are around in Year 8 because we did change it up. I don't think we could have sustained eight years in the suburbs," Kohan said. "People's lives change and evolve and I think we reflected that in the show."

Weeds: Who shot Nancy Botwin?

It was this support from Showtime over the years that made it so tough to close the book on Weeds for good. "There's this nagging feeling that we'll never have it this good again because we were really given the freedom to do what we wanted to do," Kohan said. "I'm just so proud of it and emotional about the ending."

"What stayed consistent was the tone and the characters," Kohan added. "You could take them anywhere."

Parker, who teared up when her on-screen son Hunter Parrish referred to her as "Mom," said she felt Nancy Botwin had this same tenacity that the show displayed over the years and many changes. "She just keeps going. If there's something appealing about her, that's it," she said. "She just can't be defeated and she keeps trying."

After Weeds exhales its final puff, Parker is working on two films but said she hopes to take another stab at series television. "I'm going to look for another TV show because I like doing television. I like it more than film," she said. "Hopefully that will go for a while."

Weeds airs Sundays at 10/9c on Showtime.

basically the season is gonna be a lil longer than expected and some old faces from previous seasons are coming back.

Ditto. I know it gives you the heebies, but I have to admit that the hard working, better life for your kids, up by your bootstraps, faith and family, siss boom bah America stuff really works for me.

Who was the guy who introduced him? I came in at the end.

The family part comes with age, I think. At least it has with me. I take it a lot more seriously than I did before my dad died and before I became a father.

The faith is a bit more complicated. I'm always been pretty much an atheist, but I understand that people of faith are in my camp. That's just a reality. And frankly it bothers me when people of faith have their beliefs belittled so casually. Even Muslims. The relationship that people have with their God, Maker, Creator, whatever is as personal as it gets. Living in Northern Idaho puts you into contact with lots of Mormons. I'm talking mainstream LDS, not the offshoots. Sure, the Maroni thing is pretty weird, but you never find a mainstream LDS on welfare. They take care of each other.

The faith mixes with the family. I'd like my son to have God in his life. I'm not sure why, exactly. For whatever reason it seems to me not to be a bad thing. Socialization, morality...I don't know. I not only want him to have a better life than we have, but I also want him to be a better person than I am.

Any thoughts on the mid season finale of Breaking Bad? I am pissed I have to wait nine months for the follow up to Hank's discovery while he was sitting on the shitter. The producers joked and said it was an "OH SHIT" moment in more ways than one.

That show really knows how to pick music for its montage sequences. Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James and the Shondells is the perfect song for that particular sequence That title sounds like the street name for Walter's blue meth.

Can anyone associated with this show ever top their own work in future projects? They have set the bar so high, I find hard to believe any other show can be the complete package like this one.

who knows where it's going kingfish. In the season opener Walt was back in town buying heavy artillery with a full head of hair and tipping a dennys waitress like there was no tomorrow. To quote a friend "Vince doesnt throw out red herrings" so you know someone has a day of reckoning coming. My guess is you'd need a big gun to take out a shooter like Hank.

He wasn't back in town, was he? Wasn't he in like Virginia or the east coast somewhere?

Watching Bill Clinton pull out the race card for all to see. From the same guy who said Obama would be carrying his bags however many years ago. Elder statesman, indeed.

I think he was back in town. The guy who sold him the heavy artillery was the same guy who sold him the pistol back when Walt realized that Gus might want to take him out.

yup nitne...same gun dealer. also when questioned by said dealer about the gun crossing state lines Walt makes a comment about it not leaving the county. It's New Mexico for sure.

Barry....Walt was carrying a NH id(hence the "live free or die" title), maybe thats what your thinking of?.

The faith mixes with the family. I'd like my son to have God in his life. I'm not sure why, exactly. For whatever reason it seems to me not to be a bad thing. Socialization, morality...I don't know. I not only want him to have a better life than we have, but I also want him to be a better person than I am.

I can't disagree with any of that, and empathize. I think it comes with age. I was born and Christened Episcopalian, raised and "born again" and baptized Baptist and find myself not believing very much of it at all anymore. But I see the value in religion and a belief in a Maker. As far as the Bible goes, which half includes the Jews and all of it includes the Christians, I do not see anything wrong with a world that lives by the 10 commandments. Hard to find fault in any of those.

Growing up I never knew what we were. I actually thought we were Catholics for the longest time because we went to tons of their long ass weddings and funerals.

I see more value in Faith than I do religion, at least in my home. I understand the "crutch" metaphor and the last refuge of a scoundrel thing, but I think that's what Faith is supposed to be. And if you go through your life never needing a crutch or never needing refuge, bully for you. Frankly I'm envious of the shiny happy people who go through their lives a little happier because their Faith tells them, and they believe, that God doesn't give them anything they can't handle.

But to get back to my own home, my kid's "real" dad died when he was 2 1/2. He talks about his dad a lot, about God and Heaven. I don't have the Faith, I don't believe, but to tell a 3 year old that his dad is sitting in a box and that's it...well, it just seems right to tell what I believe is a little white lie. And I'll keep telling him is dad is in a better place, looking down on him. And if he continues to believe it as he gets older, I'll encourage it.

I say live and let live as long as you don't push your bullshit off on me and my family or use your "faith" to further a political agenda. I'm pretty sure people like Santorum piss off more christians than they do athiests.

But there's the rub. How do you not let your faith be a part of your political agenda...assuming you're a politician? That's some deep compartmentilisation (jondra) that I think most anyone have doing.

Apparently Rick Perry's pushing weed legalization as a states rights issue.

barry whatd you think of the finale of weeds last night?i thought it was kind of odd it takes place 10 years in the future.some of the advanced technology was kind of corny too.but it was nice seeing old characters and there was a good amount of laughs.but i guess there was really only so much else they could do with the show.i want to catch mary louise parkers next show, whatever it is.

It is a derivative idea. Nip/Tuck did the same in the final episode.
