I recently replaced two of my tvs with 4k UHD tvs. I love the soap opera effect they produce if set right. Characters look like they are on a stage. Watching even a b/w film from the 30s is incredible.

turn off motion smoothing/interpolation/acquo-motion/etc. If you google the TV model and soap-opera effect, you should be able to find the label your TV uses.

I watched the movie Lincoln on a TV that was SOE'ing like crazy. It looked like a school play viewed through binoculars.

Alternator: $137 + $50 core charge. Sucked. I spent Saturday afternoon changing a stabilizer link and idler pulley, then Tuesday night the alternator died. Guess that was why the check engine light was on. If not then it was for the radiator fan I enwurd rigged.

Every year I buy several boxes of disposable contact lenses, enough to last through the whole year. I'll take them out from time to time, clean them, toss them away and replace them when it feels right. Then when I get down to that last pair of lenses, I'll somehow get that pair to last another 6 months.
