I read two cops who came across the two thugs were bike-mounted and neither carried guns. The one who was shot point blank when he was down also didn't carry.
False on all counts. The latter returned fire.
About the personal body guard, I am not sure.
I think he carried as well, but he was a Brigadier and his rank French arrogance may have been compounded by the arrogance of Rank.
Additionally, the black female cop killed in the second incident was a traffic cop and they don't seem to carry.
