Irreverence and satire is ultimately childish and by definition indefensible in its nature though it is often practised by intellectuals and tjose intelle tuals give very moving and brilliant defenses of it. Them temptation is to characterize Americam satire of this stripe as relatively toithless and flippant due to the costs incurred as they were by Theo van Gogh some years ago (though that incident i.volved an earnest direct critique rather than outright satire). But I dont think that is helpful as all of this seems horribly arbitrary. In any case it is appalling that such a larger group of people passively allow psychopaths to articulate their presumed convictions in this way. The few demures that there are are generally anemic and perfunctary and cynical to tje ectreme. I am an atheist I should mention. intuitively tathe than intellectually. And I choose to exist in a bubble because that is it seems to me yhe way to fo it.
