Just because a lone assassin ended his life does not mean he did not get a pass by the other branches of government and the majority of the nation but your other points are well taken.
I know. i was just funnin'. I don't think he got any passes, from the very beginning. He was hugely unpopular, and not just in the South. Like JFK. He became a saint when he took his last breath. Everything before was forgotten.
