Heat wave. I live in Santa Monica, which has almost no air conditioning in rental units and many houses. There have only been about 3 or 4 days per year that anyone would really need AC. That all changed in the past year or two.

We don't have Big Lots. We don't have a lot of national chains that are perceived as low cost because we are perceived as a high income area. No Walmart, Target, CiCi's, Chuckee Cheese, etc. There is a Target out in the Valley but I don't go to the valley unless there is a paycheck involved, especially during a heat wave!
