At a conference today he told the NJ casinos and racetracks that nothing in NJ law prohibits sports wagering, and to go ahead and start accepting wagers.
http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/christie-casinos-tracks-offer-sports-betting-25352051Even if it takes a while to have a sports betting app on my phone, I'll be able to drive 20minutes to Freehold Raceway and gamble on the NFL playoffs this year.
This will probably also lead to slots at NJ's 2 horse tracks. It will be fun to be 20minutes away from a legal sports book and video poker. Cops in that town are dicks, but after the first mile away from the track, I don't think there are any local cops my entire drive home.
The Jets, Giants, and Devils will all probably file suit against the state, but fuck the Jets and Giants, they are New York teams.
NJ is the first shoe to drop. If sports wagering sticks here, it will spread way faster than recreational weed.
