watched a couple hours of christmas specials on the travel channel.they showed all sorts of christmas displays,candy,ornaments,and random stuff from all over the country.the hammonds candy factory reminded me of being a kid during christmas and there always being a ribbon candy dish(the good kind) and a dish of assorted nuts to snack on.i told my mom about it and she said well get some of the ribbon candy for the holidays to add to the staples of nuts and the three popcorn,popcorn tins.

Vanessa is still fuckable, but IMO Seka either is older than VDR or hasn't aged as gracefully. Could be an ethnic thing. Seka is an Anglo-Saxon and Vanessa of course is Latina, and Latinas seems to hold their looks a bit better than gringas.

I think bigger versus skinnier is in there too. Since VDR was always a bigger built girl, seeing her get a little bigger with age is no huge thing.

Good point. Seka's face really show her age, but given that she is prolly well into her 50s that is only natural.

OK. I'm fairly well convinced that it's the end of the fucking world. I was watching the 12/12/12 concert and it sucked ass. I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen fan and he started off the show and sucked. He's not supposed to ever start off any show, btw. Bruce Springsteen is always the closing act on any show he takes part in.

I feel this show was just more about Obama supporters coming together to put on a concert together than it was about raising money for the hurricane Sandy relief effort. I swear there was a logo onscreen during the first part of the show with imagery that came straight from the red bars at the bottom of the Obama logo...... OK, I Googled that shit:





Then Roger Waters came out and he also sucked ass. And I'm a huge fan of his as well. The only good part was Eddie Vedder joining in on Comfortably Numb.

And for some reason, the next act was..... Adam Sandler????

Maybe it's because Gilmour and Waters started going Kurt and Courtney before I ever saw Floyd live but I thought Roger was pretty good. I thought it was odd to sing a song about the overvaluation of money at a charity concert where the goal is to raise money and I didn't need to see the return of the stupid slogan in large block font 1980s t-shirts during that bizarre stage show on Another Brick but overall I was impressed. It also shows that Bon Jovi is no dummy.

Concert promoter: Okay Jon you are slotted right after Vedder and Waters do Comfortably Numb.

Springsteen isn't an artist anymore. He's a singer/ politician. His message is what's important. Entertaining you is not important. It's part of the odd love affair between artists and the Establishment. You're never as passionate as when you're rebelling. When you're hosting the First Family in the Vineyard, you can only put so much heart into barefoot girls sittin on the hood of a Dodge drinkin warm beer in the soft summer rain. It matters not if it's one of the best lines of modern rock music. You're rubbing elbows with the Big Man and Barack.

Then look at the Stones. Sure, it's awkward to watch, but those fuckers have their hearts in it. Charlie Watts is 138 fucking years old and still plays better than Ringo ever did.

I agree to an extent on Springsteen but if you don't care about entertaining your audience you are an idiot if you are still doing four hour shows. His best songs (1975-1985) always had some politics involved in them but the politics were part of the backdrop or setting of the song and not the entire song. The focus of The River was not about how the Republicans are screwing the working class, it was about the narrator of the song and the girl he knocked up. Born in the U.S.A. wasn't about the plight of Vietnam veterans everywhere it was about the plight of one particular veteran. Now he is nowhere near as subtle as he was back then. I'd still want to catch his show if he ever came into town though. I still have a lot more respect for him than I do for that doucebag Kanye West or even McCartney when he gets on one of his vegetarianism soapboxes.

Waters=Kurt Gilmour=Courtneyy (albeit a Courtneyy that could actually play a guitar)

Waters always seemed more whiny than Gilmour and I think Gilmour wanted to shoot Waters more than Waters wanted to shoot Gilmour.

Watere was the painter, the artiste'. Gilmour was the businessman.

With Springsteen I don't think it's even conscious on his part. He's always thought of himself as Woody Guthrie, or even a singing Steinbeck. But neither of them breathed the rarified air that Bruce breathes now.

I think it's more that Waters wanted to make "works of art" and Gilmour wanted to play rock & roll. Which is probably a function of Waters being whinier.

waters had some real issues that were far beyond the reach of his days pharmaceuticals. he did the best he could and he did it well.
