I know some people listen to Stern on here. Anyone hear him announcing his retirement from FM radio today and going to satellite radio? He is going to fulfill his contract the next 15 months and start on satellite Jan 1st, 2006.

You're the second person in as many days who has said Opie and Anthony are good. I agree about Stern. He sucks. He should have only porn stars on every day.
As far as paying for radio, I love talk radio. I do a lot of work on my home PC, and I listen to it constantly.
I'd rather pay for radio than cable. I just cancelled my cable last month. I'm fighting for my soul, here. And all TV does is suck it from me. I only miss CSPAN 1 and 2, The History Channel, and The Food Network(I know, I'm a geek). Of coure, I do watch DVD's like a fiend, lol.
XM radio seems great to me. There are so many talk and news stations on it. They even have a station for drama skits and a couple for comedy. And XM, unlike Sirius, has Coast to Coast AM. I listen to CTCAM religiously.
You ought to check it out, Cleet. The conspiracy theories are great!!!!

My friend near Boston has XM and loves it- it is just a principle thing with me- I pay for tv, phone and internet- paying for radio is just too much. Plus I think one will have to pay for the actual xm/sirrius and then they are liable to charge you extra just to get Stern or Oand A, Stern Irritates me because he self promotes too much which causes me to yell ethnic slurs at him through my radio. Nobody would pay me just to tell them how I feel or what product related to me they should buy- shit dude just go back to the ole style stern and entertain us. Bring Jackie back and give fred more rope with which to craft a good show. But like I said if I hit lotto I would get xm and Opie and anthony. I laughed more often and consistently at them. I only like the porn stars on stern for his tv show where i can see them otherwise what good are they.

I have used XM and sirius and sirius is by far the better... im just glad he game here instead of xm:) And its actually $10 a month.. or less depending how many you own.. i have all my friends on my account they pay like $6 a month...

opie and anthony started out around here before getting fired and i never got the appeal. i'm not much of a stern listener, but i've always thought he can be funny sometimes, whereas opie and anthony basically just do shock. half an hour in the car with them made me want to stab someone in the eyeball with a spork--the more you listen, the more it's apparent they're just total boorish pricks. stern is best when he's ridiculing morons, but he's more subtle about it/everybody gets the joke but the moron. opie and anthony are funny in small doses, but they've really got one gear.

I really don't think Stern gets the credit he is due. Most people think of him as lesbians and poo jokes. But the essence of his comedy is his abiliity to skewer the vain and self-important. O&A on the other hand, are as james said, one trick ponies. It's the shock without the humor.

i haven't listened to stern that much since high school, which was the OJ era and his obsession with ruining kathy lee-gifford. he started out at night around here, which was perfect for 15-year olds avoiding study hall/homework. i hold him responsible for two years of intellectual entropy, but he was pretty funny in a post-beavis way. he switched to mornings and i never had time to listen to him for more than a few minutes at a time, but i'll always respect howard for being able to fill that much time for that many years and picking and keeping the core people who make the show and logically should have bolted for their own hosting gigs years ago.

Yeah. I actually think Arty is pretty talented. He makes me laugh.
I enjoyed watching him get obnoxiously drunk in Vegas during the Bango week with TR.
