In about 1983 or so a friend of mine escorted Neubauten as a promoter rep for their show in Atlanta. Usually this job involved helping the touring artists run errands. Laundry, shopping, etc. These guys wanted to tour city dumps and industrial areas to find objects to incorporate into their performance. They liked locally sourced found objects to bang on and grind on.
After a couple of hours kicking through the shit they became dismayed and frustrated. "Your city is too new to have any quality refuse"


and of course they were prententious german fucks.

Fuck, I remember Neubauten hitting the US. I think it was 84 but it was a long time ago and I am damaged. Did not see them because 1) during the week and I was still in college; and 2) living in DC meant you went to the Wilson Center and saw the local Dischord bands, because, they fucking kicked ass, straight edge bullshit or not.
