The Hezbollahly strain of the gun control movement makes such an amusing argument. They are basically saying that safety of the public trumps personal liberty. Then they turn right around and proclaim the Patriot Act to be an absolutely terrible idea. (They are right on that part but the overall thought process between the two is very similar.)
