That happened to me maybe last Sunday. It was all fucked up. I was going to quit the group forever. It was fixed the next morning.

It's kind of horrible. Don't get me wrong, you can stand it, but it really sucks. The way I managed it was I did a day of cold turkey, and then slapped on the patch. It's almost enough nicotine to make you not notice that you're not smoking. I found chewing gum helped me get over some of the more anxiety filled times, but it wasn't always perfect. Basically, you're going to want to punch people in the head quite a lot. Also, the directions on the patches say you should wear them highest on, 21 mg from what I recall, for 6 weeks, but I only stuck with them for 2, and then moved through the lower 14 mg and 7 mg, in 2 weeks as well. You'll feel really shitty. Tired. Bored. But, it helps you quit if you want to quit.

I know of two people who have used Chantix to quit, and it was relatively easy. Cigarettes start to taste awful and they don't want to smoke anymore. But they slept really well. The downside is sometimes it make your dreams really awful. I've heard this from someone else who tried it. Also, it has a black label warning, because it does cause psychotic episodes in some people, and I've read, sometimes suicidal thoughts and acts.

About the patch, you have to move it to a different place each day. I've found it tears up your skin if you don't let the place rest for about 5-6 days. Also, I couldn't fall asleep wearing a patch, like you're supposed to and would take it off every night. Also, you shouldn't keep it on if you're going to do something where you sweat a lot, it will direct all the nicotine to your gut, and you'll have to shit like crazy. So take it off. You can probably preserve the patches by sticking them to a piece of aluminum foil if you need to take it off for whatever reason.

And, smoking while you're wearing a patch will make your heart beat like crazy, and the second one will make you want to throw up. If this happens to you, remember, you can always start your attempt to quit again. I know, I quit like 50 times before I was able to stop. So, never stop trying.

Also, reading "Junkie" by William S. Burroughs, and "Trainspotting" by Irvine Welsh helps you appreciate the whole withdrawal period.

I'm going to try wellbutrin and hopefully kill two birds with one stone being severely depressed and all. I'm not too worried about bad dreams because I have terrible dreams pretty much every night. Also gonna ask the doc for my amytriptyline prescription back so hopefully I can start fucking sleeping again.

My dad replaced cigarettes in his 30s with a pipe. Replaced the pipe with bags of fun size Snickers bars hidden in the LaSabre after he retired.

I'm seeing a lot of those electronic cigarettes/misters lately. When I ask people about them they swear they are wonderful. The best thing for them I suppose is they can use them where smoking isn't allowed.

Well that, and the fact that they're not nearly as harmful to your lungs as inhaling the crude combustion of a plant is. Nicotine is about as dangerous as caffeine is, it's the fucking carcinogens and CO² and all that other shit that exists in the smoke itself that kills you and fucks you up. E-cigs are just nicotine laced water vapor. I tried one of the cheapies and I thought it was harsh. I hear the expensive ones are much, much better.

I have 2 buddies who between em must have $400 worth of e-cigs and vaporizers. They say the small e-cigs suck, because you have to constantly recharge them. Now they got these big ass vaporizers they carry around with flavored shit in them like cherry coke and atomic fireball.

Me, I need something in my hands to fiddle with as much as I need the nicotine. Something 1/2 the size of an iced tea bottle doesn't fit that requirement.

I read on there for a good hour, and he seems like a pretty right on guy. Although he doesn't mention it specifically from what I read, it seems like he was getting some early onset dementia/Alzheimers. He swears up and down that he wasn't depressed, lonely, financially desperate, etc. He just wanted to do it while he had the momentum in him. He also planned that shit perfectly. It was like the ocean's 11 of killing yourself.

I don't get nicotine addiction. I can buy a couple cans of dip or a few pouches of cigars(backwoods) and use them everyday for a couple weeks then not touch them again for months without any withdrawal or any craving.

Same here. I smoke sometimes when I'm out at the bar. In fact, I'll occasionally chain-smoke a whole pack in an hour or so. But I never get nicotine cravings and I never smoke at home or when I'm on my own. It's only when I'm drinking and I'm around other people who are smoking. Actually, I think I only smoke because the best way to socialize and pick up girls at the bars is when they're outside in the quieter smoking section.

It's not really nicotine addiction as much as it is compulsion. You spend years and years smoking cigarettes at specific times, like driving, after eating, after blowing a wad, etc and you have to train your body and mind to not do that shit anymore. When I got into my car, I would light up automatically without even thinking about it. Sure, I'm addicted to nicotine, but my biggest problem is breaking the habit itself. I smoked five yesterday which is phenomenal considering I usually smoke a pack a day. I refuse to bring cigarettes to work anymore because I have so much time to do it at my job. I'm hoping to go a whole day cigarette free, so we'll see how that pans out. I kind of have to, as my blood pressure has reached dangerous levels (diastolic of 115).

Actually Aspergers doesn't really fit. He talked about his life being satisfactory in all aspects up to aging. He was reasonably happy so he said with his life and had friends and loved ones and good associations. He did say that the thought of suicide was something he had entertained for many years. [couldn't get it out of his head] and the whole recording it and years of planning it and time it took to write it down is extremely narcissistic to me at least.

Sounds to me like he was self-destructive and just couldn't own up to that thought.

Today. 2am. My friends and I got politely reprimanded in a Jewish deli at the register to buy bagel while eating our cvs purchases of wheat thins (don't judge. I only had 5 wheat thins) and Reece's peanut butter cups because it wasn't kosher. We felt bag for being unknowingly rude, but this is the first time I've heard of this custom.

Yup. No outide food allowed in a Kosher spot. Even bottled beverages are verbotten. Same for Halal joints.
So, did you try Second Avenue Deli? It is my fav by far. I think katz's is a one trick pony. It's just pastrami, the rest of the food there is just ok. 2nd ave deli is much more consistent.
I already sent you to Yonah Shimmel's for knishes and Zabar's for deli take home.
BTW: if you're in the TriBeCa area, check out any of the all night Halal joints along Broadway. Great vegetarian food and the lovely ambiance of taxi drivers and camel jockeys. They are like the NYC version of LA's India Sweets and Spices. Buffet line steam table joints with spicy vegetarian dishes and flat breads.

I HATE Indian food, so no halal joints for me. Yes, I've been to 2nd Avenue Deli many times, loved Zabar's, and will get around to the famous Stage Coach one day. The kosher deli I was in last night was Bagel Boss. On 1st near 14th. It's been there forever. The ingredients seem kinda processed though it's kosher (look, Coca Cola is kosher so what's that tell ya?) but it's 24hr and old school prices.

Katz's ugh. I hate pastrami and their matzoh ball soup was $10.

Halal is Muslim, not Indian. Their version of Kosher, no pork, etc. Turks, Pakis and Arabs, not Apu.
