Yes.
There is a very short answer that I'm sure will be blown off as just me being a wise-ass, but it is the correct advice for this situation even if sounds like I'm skirting the issue at first. I am not doing that. This is real advice.
You need to sit down and find a good Internist to become your new primary care physician. The end.
Either the first "doctor" you went to that sent you to the emergency room was a worthless twat or you went to some urgent care walk in clinic (same thing, different name).
This is a problem that CANNOT be managed correctly by urgent care clinics, walk in clinics, emergency room doctors, or worthless twats.
The thing to do TODAY is spend some time researching the Internists in your area and find one that suits you (office is nearby, has admitting privileges at the local hospital, speaks English, graduated from school, takes your insurance, etc, etc). Then set up an initial meeting that is geared towards your general health not your ball sack. You tell the receptionist that you were recently in the emergency room and the ER Doctor strongly advised you that you should find a primary care doctor and that is what prompted you to make the call to her office today and you wanted to set up a general health initial visit.
You then walk in the office with the goal in your head of finding a new primary care doctor, not having surgery on your hernia. Aside from the initial visit form that they'll likely have you fill out, forget all about your hernia.
Then when the doctor walks in the room, you tell them that you decided it was time to find a new primary care doctor and you choose them. You mention that this whole thing came up because you were recently in the ER because of some trouble you were having and the ER Doctor stressed how important it was for you to have a good primary care doctor and that is why you are there in his office today.
Take your time researching your new primary care doctor and do it right. You will know you have done a good job if your hernia problem is then handled automatically for you. This is the quickest, most painless, and most cost effective way to deal with your hernia.
Uhm, however, if you pick another worthless twat like the first one you went to, you'll be wasting a hell of a lot more of your time and money.
