Just so long as we keep pretending that real names published by the IMDB are not common knowledge. Because you know, its not like the IMDB doesn't have a larger readership than XPT, ADT and the IAFD combined. But hey, lets keep our heads in the sand.
...
IMDB is their own animal, they don't realize how scarring it can be, just like the average Joe doesn't realize how scarring a job in porn can be to one's 'afterlife'.
Is there a reason IMDB won't remove real names even with a C+D order?
The IMDB presumably ignores C&D letters because they are legally worthless -- they would be laughed out of court. Prior restraint is unconstitutional, and unless you can somehow prove that the IMDB libeled you by publishing your real name (that would be some trick) there is no conceivable legal basis preventing them from publishing it.
The IMDB simply is treating porn actors the same as mainstream actors. What all of them have in common is that they are public figures, and the IMDB can no more be forced to remove factually correct info about one as the other. They tell you that Tony Curtis was born Bernard Schwartz. Same for porn actors.
From time to time even mainstream actors try to hide their real names (like Natalie Portman née Hershlag). No one is exempt.
I am not here to tell anyone what they should do. But the first step to making a porn career something that isn't something to hide, is to stop treating it like it is something to hide. Yes, being out and proud is far from sufficient to changing attitudes and consequences of doing porn, but without it, a porn past's negative effect becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
