Yup. Long, long ago when they set up the Chrysler plant in Fenton, shitloads of Indiana folk relocated to get jobs, thus starting the great hoosier invasion of Saint Louis. Since the Indiana transplants were, on the whole, white trash day-laborers, the city and sorrounding counties started using the term as a catch-all for white trash. It's a word that I've used my whole life and is unique to the region when denoting lower class whites.
