Back in the 90s my best friend had an Aunt(by marriage)who used to make these awesome oatmeal raisin cookies. The recipe was her grandmother's passed to her mother then to her. She was unable to have kids so she kind of took my friend as her surrogate son. He and I were chronic stoners and she used to get us to do chores around her place like once a month in exchange for 2 or 3 tins of these cookies(Munchies!!!). Seriously she had us hooked. We tried to get the recipe from her many times and she wouldn't budge on it. She passed away a couple months ago(cancer) but before she did she gave my buddy the recipe and he just sent it to me.
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup soft shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
4 tablespoons milk
4 cups uncooked Old Fashioned Oatmeal
1 cup Raisins
Put dry ingredients into mixing bowl and add shortening, sugars, eggs and milk. Beat until smooth(~2 to 3 minutes)
Fold in oatmeal and raisins. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 375F(pre-heat oven)
I mostly posted this to archive the recipe somewhere in case I lose it.
