Actually, not that good. Darren James had himself tested when he got back from Brazil. Even though he was infected, the test was negative. There's a period of serveral days after infection during which the PCR-DNA test won't detect the virus because there isn't enough of it. CDC is conservative and says that period is 14 days. AIM says that in practice they can detect the virus within seven days. If you have yourself tested every 28 days, and there's a 7 day period before the test can detect the HIV virus, then if you are infected, there's a 25% chance that the test won't detect it the first time.
The AIM testing program is actually pretty effective, but that's because of the way the test is applied. The PCR-DNA test without the program wouldn't do much good. Even if Ariana had all the guys tested on the day of the shoot, she's still taking a big risk.
