Anyone remember the awesome movie "Over The Edge",

I remember the movie. I was about 19 or 20 when I watched it for the first time and I thought that they were little spoiled little brats even then.

There were a few kids like Matt Dillon in our neighborhood. Each ended up with probation officers.

There wasn't even a community center to shut down where I lived in what was rural LI at the time. Other than sports at school, there wasn't anything geared toward kids nearby. Somehow we didn't burn down the neighborhood.

I remember playing sports outside all afternoon long, riding our bikes miles and miles, listening to a new album, relatively commercial-free FM radio or even comedy albums when it was too cold to be outside, watching the same movie we liked over and over again on HBO [like "The Lords of Flatbush" or "Report to the Commissioner"], sitting around all winter talking about girls we'd like to molest and then molesting my sister's adorable curious friends in our pool in the summer. Even some that weren't so adorable.

The scene I remember from this movie was one where the little gang gets a guy to leave this little cute blondie he's making out with.

There was NO WAY I would have left an interested blonde partying in a parentless house to hang with "the boys". NO FUCKING WAY.

No wonder those idiots had problems.

Just watched An American Crime. Based on the true story of Sylvia Likens, Catherine Keener plays a foster mother who rallies her children and the neighborhood kids into torturing Sylvia (Ellen Page) for 3 months in the basement until her death. Human cruelty is scarier than any horror movie. It was really tough to watch, so get ready to cry a lot.

I watched Howard Stern's movie Private Parts on cable last night. I hadn't seen it in about 5 or 6 years. It's still really funny. I forgot how hot Jenna Jameson was back then. I know a lot of people here don't like her, but she was fucking hot back then.

There's something to be said for catching a good buzz and then grooving on cheesy 80's movies. You know it's a really stupid fuckin' flick, but it brings back soooo many memories...

It's awesome. You may know it by the title "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie"... it's a horror film by Jorge Grau, from '74.

SPEED RACER- so cheesy, and awful animation, true to the original, lol. Good for the 10 and under crowd ( age or IQ) 4/10

THE CLEANER-Love Samuel Jackson, but this was easily predicatable from start to finish. Interesting concept. 6/10

THE BRAVE ONE- Jodie Foster excellent as usual. I love revenge movies. Gritty, violent and fulfilling. 9.5/10

AND THEN THERE WAS BLOOD-Not the kind of movie I would usually watch, but glad I did. Hard boiled oil man lives for the next money making opp, no matter what it takes. Also throws a little anti-religious zealot in there to make it better. 8/10

THE FOUNTAIN-Great "Doctor is trying to save his wife whose dying" story plus surrealistic trips to another world. Odd, but fascinating. The kind of movie you write a college paper on because of all the angles, and double meanings. One you will be talking about long after it's over. I want to see it again and those for me are rare. 8/10

MY COUSIN VINNY-it's my favorite movie of all time. I have seen it so many times. I love legal movies and this is such a parody of our screwed up legal system, plus funny as hell with excellent acting by all. I watch it all the time as background if I am working or falling asleep. 9.5/10

All I can think of off the top of my head. I am watching a lot of movies the last few weeks because I got rear-ended ( literally, not sexually, unfortunately) and have been laying down a lot.
xoxo,
Cindi

It just came out (5/27).

I'm sure the Amazon reviews will be entertaining bloodsport:

http://tinyurl.com/3sdflk

BTW, this is impressive:

he is a accomplished prosecutor with a success record of "105 out of 106 felony jury trials, including 21 murder convictions without a single loss"."

and:

"Obama said that as president he would indeed ask his new Attorney General and his deputies to "immediately review the information that's already there" and determine if an inquiry is warranted -- but he also tread carefully on the issue, in line with his reputation for seeking to bridge the partisan divide. He worried that such a probe could be spun as "a partisan witch hunt." However, he said that equation changes if there was willful criminality, because "nobody is above the law.""

'Sunshine'...not too bad, but if you've seen '2001: A Space Odyssey' and 'Event Horizon', you kind of get the feeling of deja vu on a number of occasions. It's well done, well directed, well acted...it just doesn't grab you as it perhaps might have if you hadn't seen the two aforementioned films.

This great evil. Where does it come from?

Haunting movie. Seen it a few times now; never ceases to stun me. I almost can't believe someone intentionally created something that can provoke such an emotional response from other humans as this movie does. The nature scenes are especially great.

Yeah but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, he looks pretty "good" for his age and the way it was filmed help to cover up his deficits in the role.

Michael Clayton, a really enjoyable flick. Not in my opinion Award material as compared to No Country For Old Men but a fast moving interesting movie and I hate lawyer flicks so that is saying something. 9/10. Also I have to admit being a sucker for most Clooney flicks.

Because Agent 99 is hot (no matter who plays her).
The series creaters, Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, are comic geniuses and they both worked on this script.
The original TV series is fucking hilarious, and I'm hoping Steve Carrol and Peter Segal (the director) can pull off this remake/reimagining while maintaining the whole "Get Smart" feel from the series.

It looks to be well cast and has a "beginnings" plot line for Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 of C.O.N.T.R.O.L.

Puerile and juvenile, sure, but that's what I was when I first watched the reruns as a kid.

I loved the series [and agent 99].

I just fear these remakes of classic shows into the way Loop hates when they make live action movies out of comic books.

Happy to hear that Brooks/Henry are involved. I used to love Buck when he'd guest host the original SNL.

Not always. The first two that come to mind are both horror movies but the remakes are far better then the originals:
The Blob and John Carpenter's The Thing.
But by and large, yes, most remakes suck.

The original Stepford Wives was creepy and suspenseful. The Kidman version was horrible. I couldn't believe they tried to make a comedy out of it. That's like trying to redo Rosemary's Baby as a musical.

The Thing, yes.
The Blob, no. Didn't like the remake.

I did like the remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". But, that could be because of Gabrielle Anwar nudity.

Revolver with Jason Statham, couldn't really get my head around it, I think i got the gist of it but really it was too much like work. 6/10 only for the action scenes and because Statham is cool. Wtf Ritchie has Madonna warped your mind? Make another like Lock , Stock or Snatch- you are not an artist or a philosopher but you used to make some really enjoyable gangster flicks.

I watched Inside Man with Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster. It was a piece of shit. I didn't realize it was a Spike Lee movie when I recorded it. I should have turned it off when I realized that hack was making it.

Seriously, Spike Lee is a terrible filmmaker. Do the right thing and Malcolm X were decent but everything else has been shit.

Jodie Foster looks pretty fuckable in the movie which caught me by surprise.

He is highly overrated.

But, I loved Malcolm X. Four Little Girls was a very well done stirring documentary. And, I enjoyed most of Crooklyn.

Otherwise I just like little snips of his work. I liked some parts of Summer of Sam. I liked the pizza parlor scenes in Do the Right Thing. The early scene in Girl 6 where the director [Tarantino] gets a reluctant Theresa Randle to take off her top during an audition.

And, oddly I just love the "Good and Bad Hair" dance number from School Daze.
