^the thing about old technology memory modules is that they are very cheap [for low to mid end capacity] or very expensive [for high end capacity], since the market is flooded with low-mid capacity modules and everyone wants to upgrade with high capacity modules.

I gotta got a Mini-DV camcorder that I wanna use, and none of my laptops [other than the old ones] have the FireWire port, so I need lots of memory.
I could have saved a couple of dollars, but I was burned with cheap memory about a decade ago: the memory chips literally fell off the memory module. Some cheap/generic company sold them and I had to get the credit card chargeback.
