Fantasy Football draft was Friday night. PPR league with a premium put on QBs (6pts/TD) and TEs (smaller amount needed to kick in yardage bonuses). Here's how the team is looking:

4 QBs went in the first 7 picks of the first round, and I was amazed Jamal Charles was staring me in the face. W/ so many quality RBs left, Graham was there for me after the wrap around. Tough choice between him and Ray Rice, but a dominant TE is a HUGE help in my league so I couldn't pass him up. Next 2 picks I got the types of WRs I love to have: 1 possession guy and 1 home run hitter (our league gives insane bonus points for long scoring plays). Then Cam Newton, #7 scoring player in my league last year, in the 5th round was a tremendous bargain. It was a toss up between him and RG3, and I went with Newton because he has 2 healthy years under his belt, proving he is more durable than RG3. David Wilson, a starting RB with a ton of potential, was a lay up in round 6.

CBS Sports says I had the best draft in my league, based on scoring projections. They also gave a Matt Millen award to the guy with the worst draft. LOL.

I was happy to get Kenny Britt and Mohammed Sanu so late. Britt is in a contract year and a #1WR. No off season troubles this year, so I think it is make or break for him. Very low risk getting him in the 8th round and planning that he will be my Flex starter.

Sanu in the last round has tremendous upside, playing opposite a double teamed AJ Green. At the end of last year he was looking good until he hurt his foot. With Green, Sanu and Hawkins, plus the fact that the Steelers and Ravens defenses have both taken steps backwards, I think Andy Dalton is going to get a lot out of that offense this year.

And as luck should have it, the Buccaneers and Revis are matched up against the Jets week 1. Geno Smith threw 3 picks and ran out of the end zone for a safety yesterday, and Sanchez prolly wrecked his shoulder. I'm looking for the Bucs D to put up 40 pts Wk 1.

Because I saw what Andy Reid got out of Westbrook and McCoy. Charles should have a decent line to run behind (better than Philly had the past couple years), and KC aint winning anything w/ Alex Smith's arm.

Plus Charles has 2 games each against the Raiders' and Chargers' shitty defenses. He doesn't get Denver w/o Von Miller, but in the fantasy playoffs, he is up against Oakland in the semi finals and Indy in the finals.

The other choices I was pondering in that spot were Ray Rice and Trent Richardson, as both should be catching a shit ton of passes this year. CJ Spiller and Arian Foster were still on the board also, but I don't trust either of them to stay healthy.

He's definitely got a chance to thrive, I'll give you that, due to the influence of Andy Reid. Any more there are so few quality RB's that you can really hitch your wagon to, if he stays healthy he can def rake up the points.

I got Marshawn at #4 and am damn happy about that.

You in a standard scoring league? Marshawn is a consistent producing bruiser, who would be great w/ standard scoring.

My league let you keep 3 from the last season, so I held over Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Gates. I had to let the system pick the rest so I picked up:

RB: Steven Jackson and Ahmad Bradshaw
WR: Reggie wayne, Antonio Brown, Roddy White and Marques Colston

the rest are bit players (Packers' D, David Akers, Shane Vereen, Miles Austin etc.)

Your WR corps looks solid. If Jackson is healthy, he should have a good year in Atlanta. Bradshaw scares me.

I have heard Gates dropped some weight and his foot is fine, so a return to form should be in order.

Yeah I'm in a standard league and had Marshawn last year, he was all that and then some.

I'm happy to see Gates back in form, he could do very well but that whole Chargers squad looks weak. Is it just me or are there TONS of good TE options now, as opposed to so few RB's?

edit: Partly 'cause I'm in a 10 team league, but I got Jimmy Graham (16th overall per yahoo rank!) and Jermaine Gresham late, who I think is a steal.

Yeah, 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 2 flex RB/WR, plus the normal TE, D, and K. I couldn't do the draft manually this year, so I let the computer pick the rest of the team.

The TEs out there are better than a few years ago, but there are only 3 elite ones: Graham, Witten, and the injured Gronk. Maybe Gonzalez if he can repeat last season's production. Healthy gates would be # 5. Below that you have a mess of guys who could pop big games, but offer little consistency. Vernon Davis, Fred Davis, Gresham, Finley, Daniels, Cook.

With RBs, Peterson is in a class by himself, then there are a ton of guys just below him. Charles, Foster, Rice, Lynch, McCoy, Spiller, Richardson, Morris, Martin, that is 9 guys who could finish #2 in rushing.

@Willie: Ben is a good QB2. He is going to have to chuck it alot, w/ their rookie RB out, then they are going to get miller back a moth or so into the season.

My league let me put Miller on I/R even though I drafted him hurt, so I picked up Sudfeld on the Pats. Brady gonna have to get the ball to someone besides a running back, and from what I've read in the past day, dude is 6'7 with good hands. Even when Gronk is healthy, he could maybe take the murderer's role.

I'd start looking for great TEs to start coming out of Clemson to the league. Clemson, or wherever Chad Morris is coaching. He is creating monsters.

Don't know how that applies to fantasy football, but it's definitely gonna affect real football

Foster lasted to the beginning of the second round in my draft. Everyone scared of him breaking down after all the use, and sharing carries with Tate, to keep him fresh for the playoffs. It was only like 2 years ago where Foster and Tate both ran for 1000yds, no?

All them Cowgirls on your teams, only one I trust is Witten. If he lasted a couple more picks, I was gonna draft him to be my flex. Bryant has to do it another year for me to be comfortable picking him as high as he went. I never go that heavy with one team, although I did get a bunch of Bengals for back ups.

He's a great athlete, so he got way further than a lot of good college QBs whose games didn't translate to the pros. Think of how bad Donovan McNabb's accuracy was. Tebow's is so much worse, no one even wanna give him an end of the bench job and work with him.

I think the Broncos are that good, but I think the Ravens will just need time to gel after the offseason re-tooling. That said, of the two teams in that game, I'll easily pic the Broncos to be the ones to reach the Super Bowl.

I drafted Montee Ball late, but didn't play him last night. They're "running back by commitee", but I'll bet the farm that Ball will be a touchdown vulture around the goal line, whereas Moreno will gain lots of yards (and fumbles) on the drives.

I'm playing bono-one this week. The douche always has stupid names for his team. Last year it was "jynx Maze's awesome Boobies." Now it's "House Stark WinterIsComing." Huh? He has Welker and got 16 points in a non-PPR league, which is respectable. Welker would be killer in a PPR league, I just don't think he's going to rack up that many TDs. Manning has loads of options.

To put this into perspective, the Chiefs threw 8 touchdown passes the entire year in 2012.

They are my team, but I'm starting the Bucs D over the Texans D, because I think it is going to be the start of an ugly season. It is even worse that they have to use Smith to start the season, because after a couple horrible games fans may be calling for Sanchez. The other way around would be better for progress.

It is also sad that they have a legit shot at Clowney in the draft, but their defensive guru will be out the door by the end of the season.
