Well, the aiding the enemy charge might have been a bit of a stretch. Even without that charge he is looking at a long time in prison. Someone in the comments section of an article on the verdict made a good point: most leakers say what the government did wrong, show the relevant documents, and leave it at that. Manning released 700,000 documents on the Internet. Maybe he didn't aid the enemy, but whatever that is, it sure as hell isn't whistle blowing.
