Is the equipment you’re going to use on it compatible with the 802.11n standard? That is the first thing you need to know. As far as range that is dependent on environment. What does the signal have to pass thru to get to the other side of your shop? Is your router currently on the same side of the house your shop is on? If not you might try just moving it to get as close as you can and try it. That’s almost free. Then you’d know if an 802.11n router would work for sure, but yes the 802.11n range is much better than its predecessors. I'm not sure about the latest standard 802.11ac though.
