Cobb had no problem hitting .400 in an era where pitchers could still throw spitballs and you practically had to fire a baseball out of cannon to hit a home run. Hell Cobb would get at least fifty base hits a year just bunting in this era. That's assuming he's not being suspended ten times a year for taking out opposing players with his spikes.
