Charlie Wilson's War - Nicely done & entertaining. A shame US politics didn't learn the lesson Mr. Wilson was trying to teach.

Taken - Liam Neeson was okay in a somewhat lame movie about an American virgin getting abducted by some Albanian traffickers.

Party Monster (Michael Alig story - 2003) I loved it......love Alig and St. James.....(friends of mine, in real life) Seth Green, Macaulay Caulkin, Chloe Sevigny, Dylan McDermott, Wilmer Valderama

Factory Girl (Story of Edie Sedgwick - 2006) Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, Hayden Christensen) I loved it.

Revenge of the Nerds is a classic- Go DeltaDeltaDelta!

I watched Gandhi last night. I had never seen it before and I thought it was very good. It inspired me to learn more about India.

Daniel Day Lewis is in it for about 30 seconds playing a street thug who intimidates Gandhi. It was funny to see.

Also Cliffy from Cheers is in one scene and they dubbed his voice. Pretty funny.

Just got back from Gran Torino. I liked it a lot, Clint Eastwood has said this is going to be his final acting role and if it is it was a hell of a way to out.

I really liked it... had a few lapses here and there, mostly in narrating the timeline (it bounces around via flashbacks and covers a really long span of time so it is easy to get lost in some places) but other than that it was a really good movie.

The original was good, but dont bother watching the new one, its very very bad.

I saw "The Wrestler" yesterday. It was worth the ticket price just to see Marisa Tomei half naked through a good part of the film.

Chato's Land, DVR'ed it a few weeks back and finally watched it this afternoon, hadn't seen it in years and never saw it uncut before. Awesome movie Charles Bronson is the fucking shit in this flick, he was around 50 years old when this was made and was ripped by today's standards, puts guys like Arnold and Stallone who needed the juice to shame. Jack Palance is also great in this, he rocks a sweet mustache to, its a shame he's going to be remembered for City Slickers and not all of the great stuff he did back in the day.

Nugent: Just saw this too a few nights ago. Really had to concentrate to understand all the bullshit cockney slang. Can't wait for the sequel (The Real Rocknrolla). The kid was a riot. Remember when he's in the elevator toward the end, about to get his ass beat "but i'm just little!"

I've been putting this one off for a while, but my bro had me watch it last night. Pretty funny stuff, much better than expected.

Acapulco Gold (1973) Not to be confused with the 1978 movie of the same name and similar subject matter.

This movie is about growing (or simply locating existing crops in farmer's fields etc) and smuggling weed.

If you are into smoking weed this glimpse into how things used to be done is fascinating. But be warned of bizarre rambling interviews and seemingly pointless shots to indicate travel. (ex. shot 1 truck starts moving, 2 truck moving from different angle, 3 truck farther down the road, 4 farther, 5 farther then a bunch of different shots of it arriving at it's destination. Just the departure and arrival shots would have been plenty).

It's interesting for being a drug movie that deals more with the production/distribution then laughing along with some stoner doofuses.

The Day the Earth Stood Still w/Keanu Reeves, starting it now, I will probably fall asleep its been a long ass week, thought Friday would never get her.

Not a bad flick. Might have liked "Traitor" better. Still, a good rental with burgers and beer.

Tokyo Gore Police (2008)

This movie delivers in every respect. I really enjoyed it.

I watched Tropic Thunder last night. It had some good laughs.

I thought Robert Downing Jr. was good but not worthy of an Oscar nomination. As much as I dislike Tom Cruise, I thought he was great. It took me awhile to figure out it was him.

I watched several over the last weeks:

Tortured (2008) - Meh. Not really great, but it had its moments

House of 1000 Corpses & The Devil's Rejects - Both written and directed by Rob Zombie. I liked the last one better.

Vantage Point - Interesting concept, but after a while it got a bit confusing. If you're going to change the point of view from character to character, you better avoid having a rather insane plot. It takes attention away from the POV changes.

Gran Torino - Great. I liked everything about it.

Some documentaries on Iraq.

War Profiteers - OK, but a bit too biased for my taste. A bit less propaganda and a bit more content would be nice.

The War Tapes - Three guys from a National Guard company out of New Hampshire film their year in Iraq with a videocamera. It's interesting in more than one way. You see different footage and you witness the changes they go through.

Beyond Treason - I usually don't want to recommend any documentary type thing I've seen. This is an exception. It was revolting to see what's happening in certain places in Iraq, due to the use of all kinds of 'dirty' weaponry. Both soldiers and civilians suffer from the results of (among other things) the use of depleted uranium.
It's not a neutral movie, but it does give some insight into something that is plainly a 'war crime'. (It doesn't pass judgment on the issue if the US should be in Iraq or not.)

Humanoids From The Deep starring Try McClure. A Roger Corman B grade homage to 50s monster movies only this was made in the early 80's during the slasher film craze so the violence and nudity quota is ramped up. Quite an enjoyable film if you like watching guys in rubber suits molest and murder naked girls.

I just bought this today on a whim. I know nothing about the story or the characters and I'm not typically into superhero movies, but something about the upcoming live action film sparked my interest.

Can I get some opinions?

Watchmen is good, you'll like it.
