Hobos supposedly have a code of honor and don't beg for handouts. They are willing to do menial work to pay for their keep and believe in leaving a place better than when they arrive (the old Boy Scout campsite rule). It is the unstructured, adventurous lifestyle they seek, not begging for change. They even have fucking conventions!

I believe hobos are very insulted by being lumped in with bums; much like honest, hard-working black people hate being tarred with the tritone brush.

People have soften their stances on bums by calling them homeless people, I sometimes slip up and call bums 'homeless people' and get mad at myself after the fact. Probably due to the fact our society is awash in this PC stupidity and occasionally it overwhelms me.

What ever happened to good old stigmatization? Why do we celebrate 'single mothers' (unwed mothers with bastard children) and pity 'homeless people' (bums) when they should be treated with scorn?
