Yeah, I take back the Hogan comment. It was kneejerk and a terrible comparison. Bruno's Califlower errs are a testament to how much tougher the workrate was before Vince's entertainment era took over. You put it perfectly with the "spoiled" comment. You hear so much about how great these old workers are, and you watch a match or two and it's the most boring shit out there. It's like "where are the highspots"? "Where are the hurricanrana'z"? While I find Bruno's old matches about as exciting as Hogan's old matches, they are two different entities entirely. I've always heard that if Hogan did one thing right, ring-wise, it was that he took care of you. He may no-sell and bury your ass in the midcard, but at least he won't knock out your front teeth, RobVanFat style. I heard a lot of guys say that wrestling Hogan was like wrestling a feather. But yeah, fuck that guy, anyway.

Not all the oldies were boring, though. There was a sweet spot in there around 77', 78'. I watched a match between Dory Funk Jr. and Harley Race that was a 50 minute clinic. Every move that existed in that time was put on display. Piledrivers, Iron Claws, every variation on a suplex. It was amazing.
