I've never met a black guy who was into the micro-brewing thing. It seems to be the domain of whites. Anyone know exceptions or have stories of black dudes who knew a lot about beer making?

POTUS is doing that. They have a White House beer brewed on premise. I don't know if he is actually mixing it up or simply authorizing some one else to do that.

I'm in a couple of brewer's clubs (gets me 10% off brewing supplies) in maybe 100+ members there are maybe 10- 15 black guys. Solid citizens. Not a gang rapist in the bunch.

That's just the misfortune of them not bottling in 40s.

Down here everyone knows it "sours" in a couple days, even refrigerated and if you freeze it, it isn't worth drinking. Just brew less you stupid Jew.

That's why I only did it once. Too much repetitive effort needed to keep myself in tea. Especially w/ the grocery store constantly having 18.5 oz bottles of Lipton Sweet Tea at $1.00/bottle.

As a son of the south, I will say that there is only one bottled tea worth buying: Lipton Pure Leaf. They make sweet tea, unsweetened, and that snapple style shit with fruit flavors.

I do like the Arizona brand honey gensing shit, but that ain't tea.

Where I grew up in Kentucky, near the land between the lakes, we were unsweetened tea drinkers in my family. A short two-hour drive to Nash and it was all sweet tea, all the time. I honestly don't like the stuff. It's not hard to see how Paula Deen got herself the diabeetus.

As another Son of the South, I was raised by women who brewed iced tea daily. Sweetened with Dixie Crystals sugar. One Grandmother made it perfectly...about what I'd call half and half these days, and my mother sweetened it too much to the point I took to drinking water and still don't care for tea. My chick makes pretty good iced tea every other day but I can live without it. Water is better.

That is the stuff I get. Snapple and other teas started giving me heartburn from the citric acid lemon flavoring. Once I got on this stuff, I stopped drinking soda except w/ meals.

The sweet tea that I make is the copy of McDonald's sweet tea. If you google "mcdonalds home-made sweet tea" then my tutorial on how to make it will be one of the top search results.

McD sweet tea is surprisingly good. Chick-fil-a sweet tea is meh, and I haven't had anything else even worth mentioning.

I grew up on sun tea, mid sweet. I learned to make it as a teen from my friend's mom. My family didn't drink it so I had to make it myself. I didn't like most restaurants' sweet tea in Atlanta and would always order it half sweet/half unsweet.

I still get visceral desires for tea sometimes. I can ban it from myself for years on end, and then at some point I crack. I remember being in Europe for a four month stretch once and the craving hit me somewhere in Norway. I began ordering a cup of tea and a glass of ice. I would steep a cup and pour it into a glass of ice with a spoon in it. Waiters in scandanavia are not too cool about bringing Americans a glass of ice cubes. They would bring one or two cubes at a time like the shit was gold.

The best pre-made ice tea I know's some organic black tea with peach and lemon juice. Good stuff.

Peppermint tea with lemon juice, sweetened and heavily chilled worked out pretty well in the past.

My parents would have five or six gallon pickle jars of sun tea going daily from April to early October.

I keep some Irish Breakfast Tea around the house for those mornings when I've forgotten to buy coffee. Never been much of an iced tea fan, but when I was working in kitchens back in college I'd drink a bunch of unsweetened Lipton as an alternative to plain water. You can't drink sweetened stuff in that kind of environment.

Guinness is way more hipster than Yupster.

I think the terms are interchangeable, but neither applies. I did laugh my ass off when they all started drinking PBR's, aka "Chatsworth Champagne."

I have a small, maybe 3/4" diameter button around here somewhere that says:

"Guiness Stout makes you F-A-R-T"

Which would horrify the hipsters no end.

I don't know, hipsters do enjoy the smell of their own farts.
