Worst freon I ever encountered was in a 1940s-50s fridge when I was cleaning out houses. I always used to just hit a line w/ an ax and let the freon purge so we could take fridges, etc to the dump. This one had some nasty shit in it. If you were within 10' you got high and ill. I pushed it over so the crap shot into the ground, but 2 days later when I was about to put it on a truck, the crap started pissing out again. I ran just as the high was kicking in.

That was liquid ammonia. I have an old Servel propane fridge up in my shop. It uses a flame to boil the ammonia which circulates as the coolant in lieu of freon.

Those old fridges were fucking bitchin. I inherited one from my great uncle when I was in my late teens and living in the parents basement. It was a frigidaire from the 50's, I believe. Moving the thing into the basement was like moving a goddamn car. Damn near killed my best friend at the time by almost crushing his head between the fridge and a low hanging shelf while moving it down some steps. All that near death paid off handsomely though, as the thing was still kicking strong after 40 some odd years of keeping my great uncles beer cold. The whole, "they don't make em' like they used to line" was in full effect here.

Frankly, I wonder why she went for a potentially troublesome used benz if she needed a stable platform from which to launch her lioness activities. She could have chosen a used but reliable Honda or Toyota to get her to her dates on time. Save up and then get a new Samsung Galaxy S or Note or, if her ego requires it, an iphone 5.
