I would say for ease of use, get the original New Rules of lifting. Follow it, though; don't just wing it. There is a part where it breaks down what you are (overweight? skinny? newbie? short on time?)/goals then tells you what parts of the book to do and when. There are gonna be times where you're doing straight muscle building (hypertrophy) and other times when you'll be working on strength or leaning out. All are important and I would advise anyone using the book to follow it as closely as you can. I've turned a few peeps onto it . They get great results at first, then they start to slide and go to the gym to 'do whatever'. Nuh-uh. Give up the scant few hours a week you need and be goddamn patient.
