I'm not in NYC, I am in NJ. I was in Brooklyn a week after the storm. Didn't see or hear anything too bad.

At the Jersey shore, I heard of a guy that was using a canoe to go from house to house in a neighborhood of flooded multi million dollar homes and looting what he could get (jewelry, tvs, etc). Some people were planning to confront the guy, until they noticed a shotgun in his canoe.

After about the 3rd night, I heard stories out of Belmar, NJ of lots of people having their generators stolen. Chain became a premium product.

There were probably more incidents at NYC gas stations than of actual raping and pillaging.
