Had a good burger at what must be a good place, Litton's- we met at 1pm and still had to wait a while to be seated. He brought a buddy with him whom to my knowledge does not post on or read XPT. How he explained the purpose of today's lunch to the buddy is beyond me but the fellow was amenable enough.

He got to meet Scout as I aired him out while we waited for a table. He can vouch that Scout at least answers to his name and is a well socialized dog.

BDM seemed like a genuinely nice fellow, as did his friend. Other than Zenman I've not met anyone else from this board but it didn't seem awkward at all. I guess because he's a nice fellow on here as well. Not nearly as awkward as meeting, say, Panzer or Meat. We had a good talk and a few jokes and a good meal. We'll probably do it again next time I'm that way.

But that aside what I really meant is, BDM was just as laid back as he is here. Easy going and easy to talk to. I saw his sharp Camry and he gave me good directions to Neyland Stadium- supposedly a shrine here in SEC Country. I was not impressed because from street level driving around it, which I did one lap, it looks like an erector set. Steel-framed stadiums just don't do it for me.

I hate hipsters. Engineer I work with is from Tennessee. I think they're flying him up this week.

Last time you came Southeast I think the closest you got was Asheville. If you get that close again I'll make sure to come meet you and the BF if he's along. But if you;re coming with an indefinite destination or purpose I'd recommend Charleston SC or Savannah GA over Asheville. Both beautiful and hospitable places.

Those are both beautiful places. My recollection was that Charleston had a lot of squares in it. Just mildly dorky people. Savannah seemed cooler, but it was right after the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" had came out and the locals seemed fed up with visitors. One of the two of those places had a lot of fucking roaches on the streets, too.

Yeah Charleston is dorky to "outsiders". Preppy almost. But to those of us down here who know it, it has a very cool underbelly.

There is no club or restaurant in Charleston you couldn't walk in the front door and be served well, but I dare say there's a dozen or so I could walk you in the back door and you'd be better served. Being Greek and a foodie I'm sure you know how this happens.

The restaurant is a bastion for burgers in K-town. Next time we can try something different like maybe a microbrewery or Calhouns [ribs and bbq] on the river. I understand fully about Neyland. It is cold and foreboding in appearance. It always amused me that they called Thompson Boling arena Rocky Top when it's down there by the river too. Knoxville has a ton of good fairly cheap restaraunts. You should enjoy being there in the future.
My partner for the for the rest of you guys info was a 70 year old dude I drink coffee with all the time. He has a lot in common with me as well. He's been around the block and likes to talk about pussy and carousing. The porn forum being on the webz is a bit beyond him but not the content for sure. I spent a bit of time in Charleston and I remember most of my time there as utter boredom. Then, I started dating a girl going to the College of Charleston (although I never once saw her attend class or open a book) and suddenly it was like living in an entirely different city. That was a few years ago, back when ecstasy was the cool thing to do. I used to go with her and her friends to weird "private" clubs. I don't think any of them were truly private in the sense that you had to have some sort of membership or secret password to get in, it was just that if you didn't know that they existed you would never be able to find them. The entrances were always in the back through an alley or up a fire escape or just a plain metal security door in between a couple of dumpsters that was completely indescript. The weekend before I left, the last club she took me to was the wildest and even though it looked like a small cheesy 1970's disco it was a great time. I think it was named something like "Circus" or "Carnival".

Anyway, thank God I got to see that part of the city, and ever since then, as I have moved on from town to town, I always wonder what secret underbelly I'm missing out on.

I thought the Windjammer was on Sullivan's Island? If it's the early 80's place I'm thinking about, it was right on and open to the beach, sand on the floor, cold beer and great live music. But I'd have sworn it was on Sullivan's.

Since we are reminiscing about Charleston, does any remember the drive-in porn theater in North Charleston? I think it was called the Port Drive-in. They tore it down in '85 or '86.

I don't remember the porn drive-in. I was in college then and had little interest in porn because, you know, real live pussy was in endless supply.

I've googled a bit and yeah I went to the Windjammer a time or two. And the place I'm thinking of was Miskin's on SI.

I was in school in the Upstate anyways, so Charleston was an occasional place for me. I used to love that all the local joints down there had shuffle-board games. Still do, based on the joints my step-dad takes me.

There was a porn drive-in hereabouts called the South 29. We did go there a few times. I ran up on a pair of girls we'd later refer to as "The Party Girls from Mt. Pilot". These chicks liked porn and we'd double date there sometimes. One couple fucking in front and one in the backseat. All with 30 ft tall gapes on the screen. A lot of fun.

I didn't go to the Port a lot, but it was an occasional pleasant distraction. The College of Charleston was about 90% female and of course the Ashley Hall girls were always on the prowl.

Back in the 70's there was a local drive in theater in Ky. that had porn on from time to time. The screen was slanted a bit towards the highway so traffic could see it for a few seconds. Many a near wreck ensued.
