It's just hilarious when people presume to speak for Jeff Steward, when there's an enormous archive of posts, dating back to when the Republicans tried to prosecute him, to suggest otherwise. Try again, twat.

Can you post a link? We don't like to spend more time there than needed. Pick a political thread over there any thread and somewhere you will find Goldstein whining about disrespectful posts when he is the first one to eviscerate any poster he doesn't agree with. There is also this Ron K. guy who is on a crusade to boycott Papa Johns because their owner has the audacity to pass along the increased business costs due to Obamacare along to his customers. I swear about 80% of the people that post in a political thread over there believe that the amount a business owner pays in necessary expenses to run his business has absolutely no impact on the profit he makes from his business.

It's getting close to Thanksgiving. Bono is too busy stocking shelves with cranberry sauce to do much posting on ADT at this time of year.

I'll say the same there here that I said there. Why is this a crusade to people? It's a business decision, not a cause. Businesses don't provide health insurance because they can't afford to, not because they don't want to or because "they don't care about their employees enough." Schattner's not alone, not at all. And I believe it's the franchise model that has forced Papa John's into this position. The last thing to do is boycott them. If anything, you should patronize them. Stop reading HuffPo and Slate. Turn off Current TV, switch from MSNBC to CNBC, and tell Michael Moore to move to Canada ad take a look at the SEC filings, the earnings reports, the stock price. It's just business, people. Furthermore, I'll add that anyone who criticizes wealthy job creators has their priorities screwed up. These people are the makers. They are the fuel that makes the engine of capitalism run as smoothly as it does. Meanwhile all those poor trash looking for handouts - including healthcare - are the takers. The problem is that the takers are outnumbering the makers. Some need to be deported, others deprived of heathcare so they mercifully just go away and a token few re-educated and incorporated into our ranks. It's a demographic numbers game but we'll get the math right before the next election.

Barry, you need to get a mold of that. You know damn well Barack O' Bonga would be a hot seller. A mold of what? Edit: Sorry. This is what happens when you reply without reading the entire thread first.

The usual goons, including all the Admiral's ignorant family members, are up in arms about John Schnatter. The fools don't understand that Schnatter doesn't employ any of the people whose jobs are at risk, because he's a franchisor. It's the employees of his franchisees who he is predicting may lose jobs, if the franchisees determine they can't afford the cost of Obamacare. Schnatter doesn't have anything to say about it. That won't stop the perpetually outraged, though. None of them has ever made a payroll or had to worry about input costs.
The franchisee pays Schnatter 6% of sales as a royalty to pay for the use of the brand name and the recipes. Probably another 6% as contribution to a regional or national cooperative advertising campaign (those awful "Better ingredients, better pizza" commercials). So 12% goes away off the top. Then the franchisee gets to pay the useless teenagers and retards who work for him, at the state-mandated minimum wage which is at least 150% of what they're worth. He pays for ingredients, marketing collateral (boxes and flyers), rent and electricity. After all of that, there might be a buck to a buck and a half left over from every pizza for the shop owner to pay himself to work there 100 hours a week, after having invested $500K to a million to build out the store. (Better hope there's not too much debt.) When Schnatter says Obamacare might add 15¢ to the cost of a pizza, he's really talking about 10-15% of what few nickels are left over for the poor shop owner, who takes all the risk of failure if the phone don't ring and nobody orders no pizza.
At some point, it's not worth it.
By the way, the Admiral just came back from a trip to the UK. Wanna guess how much your $12.00 Papa John's pizza runs in the UK, where they have the kind of wonderful social benefits Obama's fixing you up with? THIRTY BUCKS. The cost of supporting all the freeloaders is a lot less pizzas for the families of those who work.
I make my living from regulatory complexity. More regulations mean more work for me. I'm wealthy, and accustomed to eight-dollar gas and thirty-dollar pizzas anyway. So I'll be fine. But I don't think that's good for Americans. That's what the dipshits have voted for, though: More work for me!

Anyone that lives in Brooklyn and eats Papa Johns, Dominio's, etc, should be ground up and fed to the homeless.
Don't even get me started on Olive Garden or the other "Italian" chain restaurants, like that shitty Macaroni Grill place.

Anyone that lives in Brooklyn and eats Papa Johns, Dominio's, etc, should be ground up and fed to the homeless. I thought it went the other way around. Like the theory was that New York was grinding up the homeless and feeding them to people. I was talking to friend there back when Giuliani was in charge and she was like, "I don't don't know what happened to all of them. Maybe we're eating them?"

I hate this idea, the area where I live is populated by the mom-n'-pop type of pizza joints, and there are no chain joints other than some crappy Dunkin Donuts. I want McD's, BK, Subway, Popeyes and Taco Bell to move-in and drive all the moms and pops out of business. Be sure to check out my blog to find out more about Dr. Bob drink.

Doesn't matter the collateral damage to companies that do business with PJs or the companies that do business with those companies. Good libs know what's best for the unwashed. Could someone explain to me how boycotting PJs for not handholding their employees helps the very same employees the boycotters are trying to "help"?

There is an off chance that an individual can be dealt with using reason. There is no chance the masses can be handled the same way.
Also, there is a 90% chance that the people boycotting Papa John's have never eaten Papa John's.

Well, Barry, maybe if they hadn't decided to give away Two Million Pizzas as a promotional stunt, they wouldn't have to threaten to cut anyone's job, huh? Your argument is specious. Anyway, thanks for rushing to the defense of the crappy chain pizzas at the expense of the small businesses the (R)'s pretend to support but throw under the bus. You think the minorities re-elected Obama on their own? ^^^ There's your small business owners/Local Pizzeria Owners right there.

I think most of the real NY pizza places use a Grande brand cheese that's a mix of mozzarella and provolone. The places that make those little neapolitan pizzas are using either fresh mozzarella or maybe imported buffalo mozzarella from Italy. You're just eating shit pizza and complaining about it. Eat better shit, but do it less often.

Man I could use a pizza right now. I ordered pizza to eat with a crew I had working very late last weekend. No alternative but Dominos. First time I've had their pizza since they "re-invented" it, what, 5 years ago? It actually was not bad.
I ate at a place in Charlotte, NC today called "Fuel" which styles itself as NY Pizza. The slice I had was good but not outstanding. The Dominos was at least as good, as sacrilegious as that sounds. Though I had basically a meatlovers from Dominos and a ricotta/spinach/tomato/bacon in Charlotte.

Domino's redid their shit about a year or two back, I think. I don't eat it very often, but that about the only fast food pizza I will get. Maybe Pizza Hut once in blue moon. The Domino's artisan pizzas aren't that bad, either. Papa John's seems to put sugar in both their sauce and their dough and eating their pizza absolutely destroys my bloodsugar. It's like I can't take enough insulin. Frankly, the best pizza in Alaska is when I make it myself at home. Hmmm... Steezo's Pizza has a nice ring to it.

Haha yeah Steezo's Pizza does.
I do not like Papa John's shit all the recent politics aside. I don't like their crust or sauce or anything else about their food.
I used to like the old Dominos sauce- it had a very tomato-y kick to it that I like even though I'm apparently allergic to tomatoes. Seems they may have sweetened it down a little but the bacon on Friday's pies made up for that change. Little Caesars is garbage. Do not even get me started on a CiCi's.
Pizza Hut reminds me of the staid Toyota dealership in Updike's "Rabbit at Rest" novels. Left behind even though they are pushing wings hand over fist. Just clueless.

Pizza Hut is a "eat in" place. The others (Domino's, PJ, etc) are strictly late night delivery joints. All of them need plenty of toppings and gimmicks to hide the highly mediocre they have going for them.
Does Little Caesar's even exist anymore? I think I ate that once in the early-mid 90's.

There was one in Kmart that used to be on the Cropsey plaza around the same time that Roy Rogers was in the place that is now occupied by Wendys. I ate there once and I remember their crust with baked-on cheese bits.

Does Little Caesar's even exist anymore? I think I ate that once in the early-mid 90's. Yeah it exists...They may be down to $10.00 for two larges. The big stuff going on Down South now is "Hunt Brothers" Pizza. You'll find it in Mom and Pop C-Stores everywhere. Unfortunately it's a medium crust pizza for the most part though some have a thin crust available. Their gimmick is any topping on a large for about 9 bucks. They seriously lack for sauce, or a notable sauce. If there isn't enough tomato to make my forehead sweat I aint interested.

The Little Caesar's up here has some walk-in specials on cheap ass cheese or one topping pizza's. They're always ready to go so you can just pop in and grab one. They're mediocre, but still probably better than Pizza Hut. Plus the Crazy Bread is still tasty. I only really enjoyed their pizza when they had the big square pan pizzas. They currently offer only the round ones up here.
I do believe we've derailed another thread with fast food talk.

Steezo, as the only member of this forum who's actually spun pies in NYC, I'm gonna tell you to no one would waste provolone by adding it to the pizza mix. My mistake. I recalled that Grande has an East Coast blend and I assumed it meant Mozza/Provo. I went to their website and it's actually a blend of whole milk & part skim mozzarella.

Strangely, the single most profitable pizza location in all of America is located here in Anchorage. It's a place called Moose's Tooth. They also brew their own beer, which might add to their profits. I think they're....OK. I love their toppings, but I don't care for their crust.
I think they're just so busy that they can't put out a good product. From my experience, the most important component to a good crust is high heat, and they're cranking out way too many pizzas for the ovens to recover and have the adequate heat necessary for oven spring and crispiness.

How many ovens they got?
You're essentially correct, though. It sounds to me like it's time for them to expand.

I have no idea about the ovens or what temperature they run at. I busted out a local sports bar/pizza place that was advertising wood-fired pizza when I walked over to the ovens and saw gas flames. They had to change their advertising to "stone fired," whatever the fuck that means.
They are expanding though, so hopefully that'll fix things. I don't even go to eat there anymore since you have to get one of those annoying plastic wait-list buzzers and sit around for an hour or more. They're ALWAYS packed. I get my order to-go and always get the same pizza: the shrimp fiesta. A white pie with lots of jalapeños and good-sized shrimp.

I can't eat any chain pizza's anymore. They make me sick, literally. Last time I had a slice of Papa John's at a neice's b'day party I got the trots almost right away. The newest trendy Pizza joint in my hood is called 800 Degrees. It's owned by the Umami Burger guys and it is a HUGE hit. Picture doing a pizza joint like a Subway or Chipotle setup. Long service line, pick a crust and sauce, step down and choose toppings, step down and order salads and sides, step down and watch your pie go into an 800 degree open face oven and pop out in about 2 minutes. Step down and pay under $10 for a basic and $12 for one with a few toppings. Get a drink cup and step down to one of those new soda machines that have 120-150 flavors of soda. Find your own table and you're out in like 20 minutes. The kids go nuts for the soda machine. The line moves quickly and there is a line out the door all day and night. Great quality ingredients, fresh buffalo mozzarella sitting in water that is pinched off right in front of you, fresh veggies, nitrate free meats, thick cut salads in those trendy wedge shaped bowls, beer and house wine, soda gimmick for the kids....these guys are just printing money! 880 Degrees website with pics

Okay, I watched it. There's a guy who knows his craft. I hope to hell he becomes the king of pizza where he is, but I also hope he never tries to create a chain, because that would demean what he's doing.
