The marathon thing is nuts. Bloomberg's a world class nimrod. Apparently hotels aren't honoring reservations made by out of towners for the race because the rooms are being taken up by locals who've been displaced. Good for them.
Yes, owner of Hilton Gardens in Staten Island said he won't evict the displaced for runners.
Some runners are boycotting/staying home.
Think of all the fuel to bus the 20+K marathoners around.
They say they will only be using recruits from the academy to man the marathon. Retired cop called into the radio show and said the 1200 recruits they may have would be enough for the Brooklyn leg. He also said that the recruits would still need Sgts, Lt, and Capt, around telling them what to do.
People are organizing protests online. I'd lay 10-1 that there will be at least one riot.
