Mitt Romney was really concerned that his "Storm Relief Event" in Kettering, Ohio yesterday would look like a dud, so he and his team stocked their donation tables with $5,000 worth of supplies at Walmart. The props, according to Buzzfeed's McKay Coppins, were things like granola bars, canned food, and diapers which were strategically placed to make sure that the photographs taken at Romney's "Storm Relief" campaign didn't a show very un-busy, un-stocked relief table (what else do you expect when you give people short notice to donate their canned goods?). But ... but ... look at how pretty all those fake donations look. . .

And apparently, the event was so manufactured that they allowed supporters to use the donations which were bought by the campaign, to donate back to the campaign. According to Coppins:

Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, "What if we dropped off our donations up front?"
The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. "Just grab something," he said.

The hurricane-ravaged east coast has been receiving north Alabama help, but crews learned they'll be doing work in Long Island, New York instead of in New Jersey.

Crews from Decatur Utilities headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

The crews that are in Roanoke, Virginia say they are just watching and waiting even though they originally received a call asking for help from Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

Understandably, Moore said they're frustrated being told "thanks, but no thanks."

Huntsville Utilities said they were not turned away and are up in storm ravaged areas working.

Joe Wheeler EMC said they did not respond to New Jersey, but did go up to Maryland and headed home once they were done.

As of this morning there were 5 generators there. According to the article since Obama declared a state of emergency, those generators can be seized to help people. It's 51 degrees in NY right now at 11:15 their time. How cold is it going to get tonight, especially for people with no electricity or heat?

The National Guard was handing out food to people in need last night. The NYPD are occupied putting barricades up for the marathon. Bloomberg is just fucking stupid.

People on Staten Island are starving and freezing too.

Since they're the ones on the news now, Bloomberg is going to pull all the resources for them. So it will be your cake that they will eat.

For ppl who still have no power, most of the chain eateries have generators and are open. Problem is, if you're not in walking distance to one, you may have trouble getting to one depending on your subway situation.

That said, I know a few ppl whose apartments are fine, but no power for a week. They've stayed in their homes and just deal with taking cold showers. Some of my friends are staying uptown with friends just because there's warm water and it's close to their jobs.

Its pretty cold at night on Far Rockaway: since I was stuck there overnight on the 20th floor at my grandparents place, I had to sleep in a robe and covered with 3 blankets. The only electricity is the lights on the 1st floor and in the halls of the floors. After 7pm - lights out.
