They've been doing the hydraulic kind for fifty years now. No worries. Sorry if this is news to your ignorant ass, but those heavy chemicals, used in the hydraulic fracking techniques, you claim contaminate the water table, but can only seem to provide the most dubious proof of, can't float up through thousands of feet of rock to contaminate the water table. It goes against something called the laws of physics. Looks like dropping out in the eighth hasn't paid off for you.



i don't really have much to say beyond this: the supposed "representatives" of the oil companies that travel my area's geology departments are complete fucking hacks who have not the slightest clue about fracture mechanics, stratigraphy, or structural geology. while I do believe that most of the contamination people see is pure surface runoff by shitty drilling (and not by deep hydraulic fracturing), the people doing it seem to have no idea about fracture propagation, interbedding (possible conduits for gas flow), etc....

it's pretty frightening, honestly. add to that the radioactivity of a lot of the rock units around this area, and it's a perfect shitstorm



- from a geologist, so even in your best scenario....what about dat old surface run off?
