Actually if the Fed would let us regulate our own energy concerns we could more than pay for our own roads and schools. Hopefully with the Romney victory a new law where the sates can regulate who can drill and where in their states we'll really see a pick up in drilling and fracking.

i don't really have much to say beyond this: the supposed "representatives" of the oil companies that travel my area's geology departments are complete fucking hacks who have not the slightest clue about fracture mechanics, stratigraphy, or structural geology. while I do believe that most of the contamination people see is pure surface runoff by shitty drilling (and not by deep hydraulic fracturing), the people doing it seem to have no idea about fracture propagation, interbedding (possible conduits for gas flow), etc....

it's pretty frightening, honestly. add to that the radioactivity of a lot of the rock units around this area, and it's a perfect shitstorm
