I do live in the country and I see how that has enhanced my respective dogs' lives. But I take them everywhere with me including to work and on the road for work. They cope in cities, jobsites and hotels because they are well socialized but if I lived in an urban setting I'd look for a different breed that was not as active or would opt for a different pet if one at all. These high-bred labs have to have room to work, and work to do.

Scout travels in a crate in my suv when I'm driving and I leave him in there at times while I'm TCB... with all proper ventilation and cooling precautions of course. I'm waiting for the day when I'm in an urban area and some peta-oriented bastard/bitch starts in on me about leaving him in the car.
