I got my draft today, going for a 3-peat. I have the #3pick. My league just fiddled w/ the scoring, QBs now get 6pts for a passing TD, instead of 4.
Using the updated scoring the top QB last year, Drew Brees, scored 588pts and the top RB, Ray Rice, scored 354. I am throwing out conventional wisdom of putting a premium on RBs, and going with a straight "who's putting the most points on the board" approach. Aaron Rodgers is going to be my first pick. He only threw 6 INTs last year, and it is huge that a QB doesn't cost you points.
My league also puts a premium on TE receiving yardage, a hold over from when it was first started. They also just added a Flex spot to the starting lineup. If Graham and Gronk are there when I pick in Rnds 2&3, I am grabbing them.
That will give me 2 spots where I should have top 3 scorers, and I should have far an away the top Flex player, as most others will be starting their 3rd string RB or 4th string WR. Plus, taking the other TE will hurt every other team in the league.
Last year I pieced together the RB position. My rushing attack was the last in the league, but my WRs were great and as bad as T-Bo is on the field, he was a real good fantasy QB.
I am more worried about being left out on a top 5 WR, but I have done a good job with waivers, picking up Britt then Cruz early in their breakout seasons.
I'm on the bandwagon for Titus Young, on Detroit, in rnds 5-7. I am hoping that a RB coming of injury drops down to me in Rnd 4.
With Santana Moss appearing to be losing a step, I look for Pierre Garcon to have a big PPR year, if RG3 turns out to be mediocre or better. I would draft Roy Helu off the same team, but Shanahan clusterfucks the RB position as much as Belichek.
Looking at what Cincy did the past few years w/ Ced Benson, I think Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis should put out some decent production this year.
I think Cruz will be drafted too early, as will Cam Newton. Teams will had 6months to break down a full season worth of tape on them.
I won't be reaching for the Jets Defense/Special Teams as I have the past 2 years. If I jump on a defense, it will be the 49ers. They play in a shit division, so Points Against should be low, and Ted Ginn is always a threat to score, returning kicks and punts.
I'm just typing all this out, so I can work it through my head, then read it to see if it holds up. Hope I don't chicken out of going QB/TE/TE.
