The USB 1.x generation only had throughput of 1.5 Mbp/s to 12 Mbp/s, whereas the High Speed USB increased notional throughput to 480 Mbp/s. While this would seem to surpass the FireWire IEEE 1394 bus' 400 Mbp/s throughput, in actual practice it was demonstrated that FireWire's two-way performance was vastly superior. That's why I insist on a FireWire Anus Warmer.
