Classic sitcoms took another hit with the passing of Sherman Helmsley. Dude was good, so was his show.

I never like Good Times and barely watched it. Was that fag jimmy walker part of show? that may have been why.

I loved that show. I remember being a kid in ny with my dad begging him to take me to their building. he said no, and i was like, ok then can you at least tell me what the east side is?' p.s. i thought roxy roker (lenny kravitz's mom) was the bomb shit and her clothes were off the hook.

i used to watch his show about a church,i think it was on nbc when i was a kid.he also did some good cameos on the fresh prince of bel air.

good times was the bomb. another one of my favorite shows. loved penny (janet jackson) and her mom, loved pimp marion, loved thelma (so gorgeous).

Sherman Helmesly was in The Jeffersons w/ Weezy, Florence, both Lionels, the weirdo/fag English guy (aren't they all) and the interracial couple, I forget the doorman's name and aint gonna bother w/ IMDB.



Since Gia mentioned Janet Jackson, a Blind Item on CrazyDaysAndNights.com the other day lead some to believe that the current Jackson family turmoil may stem from her protesting against young Paris Jackson being allowed to pursue acting. If it is to believed that Janet was the person the Blind Item was about, then she was subject to some inappropriate and illegal things while acting in her teens and doesn't think Paris should be subjected to that. I'll reiterate that it was a blind item, but it was dropped a couple days before Janet was pictured outside the Jackson compound arguing with Jermaine, and shortly after the child's guardian, Momma Jackson, was reported missing.

They scooted mama out of town so the brothers and Janet could have a financial intervention with Paris and the kids. Mama is administering MJs money as the kids' guardian and the siblings are pissed they are left out. The brothers are touring right now as The Jacksons and ain't selling shit.


Crazy Days and Nights also just had a blind item about a 14yr old disney tv star being casting couched with her parents' knowledge.

Jacky Jasper of DiaryOfAStreetKing.com just broke that Momma Jackson has been stripped of guardianship of Micheal's kids. Now they will all be whored out for all they are worth. Kids will be working around the clock, and they will be broke by the time they are 18.

Of course Good Times had a direct connection to The Jeffersons...It's co-creator (the other being Eric Monte) was none other than Mike Evans, AKA Lionel #1. He actually left The Jeffersons after the 1st season to concentrate more on writing for Good Times, only to return 4 years later.

It's hard to understand just how dangerous and ground breaking the George Jefferson character was at the time. In the early 70s black characters were usually pretty benign..."knew their station", I guess...or were criminals. George Jefferson was the counterpoint to Archie Bunker, who was hugely groundbreaking. George was a dirty secret of our society. A successful black businessman who was an unabashed racist. A very real character, not the buffoonish stereotypes like so many of the Norman Lear creations of the time.
