Anyway, I was actually surprised to see Blake came out of seclusion because I thought he had actually decided to disappear forever after he beat the rap (or rather LA County failed miserably in their effort to prosecute him), but I wasn't surprised to see he had a meltdown. I always thought he was mentally unbalanced...even way back when I was a kid and I'd see him on Carson. I just don't have a clue what he thought he had to gain by going on there. I guess he's trying to promote some upcoming memoir or something...but still.
I didn't know much about him other than my dad watched Baretta when I was a kid. I didn't know he was that loony until he murdered his wife. I wonder if Blake is so delusional that he didn't even imagine Piers eventually asking him about the murder.
Yeah, I remember him mainly from seeing him on "Baretta" as a kid too (I remember one of the local channels used to show reruns every weeknight after the news). Though I was still a young kid, I remember him from his next tv show "Hell Town" too, and it was during that time, I remember seeing him on Carson & thinking he was completely nuts (looking back as an adult...he came across as being HIGHLY mentally unbalanced/unstable). It was just one of those things that I filed away in the scrapbook of my mind...so when he killed his wife, I was like...Damn, I knew he was nuts...But, I never realized he was a fully deranged psychotic.
"Baretta" was actually still really successful when they had to pull the plug on it...because of Blake, his behavior, how difficult he was to work with, and I don't think he even cared. He had conflicts with co-star Dana Elcar and he was replaced after only 1 season. The fact that the show only lasted 4 seasons is kind of telling. Everything I have seen/heard would indicate that Robert Blake is/was his own worst enemy.
But yeah, Robert Blake really seems to be that delusional and he seemingly really didn't think Piers Morgan would "go there." I saw where he said he only agreed to go on there because Piers was the only person he trusted and nobody calls him a liar, or something to that effect. I don't know what he based the trust in Piers on, but that's my understanding. But still...I mean, you come out of hiding and go on a ratings driven television program....any rational person would seemingly have to know that the subject "probably" would come up.
One would think he can't possibly be that delusional that he doesn't realize that virtually every rationally thinking person on the planet thinks (knows really) that he did it...but then again he is clearly mentally unbalanced...so who knows.
Should be interesting to see how many people actually buy his memoir when it comes out. I really don't have any interest in it...but then again I don't like looking at train wrecks either. It's not like he is going to come clean about it or anything anyway...Hell as delusional as he seems to be, he might not even address it all that much, if at all (though I can't imagine he'd get it published without addressing it).
