Old time TV takes another hit today as Ernest Borgnine has passed away at age 95. Many days I played hooky from school and watched McHale's Navy. I'll miss you friend.

My friend knew him and said he was the most joyous, friendliest person you could ever encounter. He loved to travel and meet new people.

First memories of Borgnine are from The Black Hole and Airwolf. Totally forgot he was Cabbie in Escape from New York until I read it somewhere else today.

But he had more in common with us pervs than I ever thought.

His Secret to Aging Well

I remember him from a film I like, Gattaca. He played a repressentative of the old, uneducated crop of people living on a toxic planet, striving for a new start on another one. Andrew Niccol got lost and then came back with Time, which at least has Olivia Wilde in it.

Not a traditionally handsome leading man, but he carved out a really nice career for himself. Sad day.

His best role was Dutch Ingram in The Wild Bunch.


First Andy Griffith, now Ernest Borgnine, I'm sure Kirk Douglas is praying that somebody else dies really soon.

The Wild Bunch is one of my favourite films. Should break out the blu in tribute to the man.

He worked damn near up until the day he died. He had to of really loved what he was doing. RIP.
