My entire family moved up here from New York the year before I was born. My uncle had come up a year or two before that and started commercial fishing and told my parents that, "New York is no place to raise a family." Oh well. I can't remember whether my uncle had won or lost a poker game right before he left, thereby either enabling or requiring him to leave town and fly to Alaska. In any case, after you introduce Greeks to a place with almost unlimited fish & wildlife, it's pretty hard to get them to leave again.

A depressingly large percentage of the hot girls up here are strippers. Most of the other hot girls I meet are in the service industry where they can make good tips. And any woman, regardless of looks, intelligence, mental state, etc. can find a man anytime they want, so the pool of available women is all sorts of fucked up.
