You can't see screen shots or box covers in TX!!!!
To prevent underage persons from viewing screenshots, we have added additional safeguards. You were denied access because of the following reasons.
1. Prohibited Region.
To prevent persons, located in regions with local and/or state regulations prohibiting the delivery (via the mail or Internet) of Adult Material to their area, from viewing screenshots, we must now restrict access to screenshots. We apologize for any inconvenience and if you have more questions, please contact our Customer Service Department. Click here for more information.
To ADE
I've never seen this much censorship on the net!
I can go to any porn site, and look at explicite nudity if I want to. I am completely outraged by what you are doing! I don't need YOU telling me what I should and shouldn't see. You're not my parents. My local state and county can send me a letter if they don't want me to see nuitdy. I'd probably be 60 and limp before i'd see a letter.
I'd like to know exacly what laws are prohibiting you. If the laws do exists, why isn't anyone else following it?
You lost a good customer. I'm not even going to logon to you site anymore. Also, I'll be sending you support team a request to remove my account and personal information off of your servers.
I suggest that anyone else who is blocked, do the same. Don't go to the web site, and send a request to remove your account. Their hit count will drop, and loose money from any 3rd party ads they may be hosting. And I'd like to see them process 1000's of removal requests.

I've read the indictment. It lists a movie studio to blame (Extreme Associates). I'm very sure that MaxHardcore got a ton of these indictmants. ADE should realize that indictmant was for Extreme Assoicates. And if ADE wants to be "careful", all they have to do is stop selling Extreme Associates products until the matter is resolved. I'm not a lawer, but in any case, ADE would have been sent a cease and decist order. All ADE would have to do is comply. ADE is a movie distrbuter, plain and simple. I've very sure that the Gov. isn't going after distributers. That would mean every porn shop in the US. ADE sells movies. They dont' make them, thier views are not expressed in the movies. They shouldn't have anyting to worry about.
The worse thing that will happen is the Exteme Associates will get a very hefty fine, and have to stop production on the specific titles litsted in the indictmant. ADE would no longer be able to replenish thier stock of the videos, and would no longer be able to sell them.

Then you would be very wrong. Historically, local stores have been the primary target for prosecution (kind of like how the corner drug dealer gets busted, not the distributor).

Not necessarily. Community standards are based on where a retailers products are sold. To a local retailer, with no Internet presence, the only place that they need to be concerned about is the location of their store(s). For an Internet retailer, every location to which they ship is a location for potential prosecution. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rob Black has never set foot in the Western District of Pennsylvania. However, that's where he's being prosecuted.
That having been said (or written), guess where ADE is located. That's right, in the Western District of Pennsylvania. They're just north of Pittsburgh (which is about as west on PA as you can get).

Really, you should do some research. Russ Hampshire of VCA spent a year or two in prison in the 80's on an obscenity charge.

They've already cut you off as a customer. They no longer ship to Texas. Why would they want to risk anything by allowing you to see content, if they aren't going to sell anything to you anyway?

I'm not a lawer, so I don't know about such things.
Well I'm really just a little pissed because I really liked ADE. I can understand, it's not their fault. I guess they're trying to protect thier assetts. I hope that after the dust settles TX will be put back on the ship to list.
I really liked the screen shots and covers. They did a good job at making them.
Well I think that ADE should have sent an automated e-mail to customers letting them know about the situaton. Instead of being abupty denied. Like, hey were sorry but the man is on our ass.

You obviously did not read the indictment close enough. Go back and re-read it.

These kinds of threads are really getting to be a nuisance. I just don't understand why people get so damn pissed off about these issues. It's like they've been personally slighted by a change in policy by a retailer.
DVD Empire's actions are not only to protect their assets. It's to protect the livelihoods of the people that work there as well. Empire employs a lot of people. These people in turn have families and children to support. Anyone with a conscience would (should) be taking the steps they are taking in order to mitigate any future potential problems.

Folks shoudln't be angry at AdultDVDEmpire for refusing to ship to Texas.
For whatever reason, they most likely have some reason to fear legal action from Texas for shipping items there. They're not doing this to spite Texans because they think they're smelly or have cooties. They're doing this from a fear of being prosecuted. Maybe they're being overly cautious, I don't know, but they won't ship to eight other states, either, as well as certain cities. That's about twenty percent of their US customer base.
Any anger directed at the retailer is directed at the wrong target.

As a lawyer living in Texas, I am a little confused why ADE recently changed its policy regarding Texas. The Federal case in western Pa. does not directly involve Texas, and community standards in Dallas can't be too restrictive as there are tons of sexually oriented businesses here.
Can somebody enlighten me and explain why Texas was put on the list. I find it hard to believe that the community standards here are more restrictive than the majority of the US. If ADE has to exclude Texas, then I'd think it would have more company on the list than it has.

ADE are the Vivid of retailers. They want to sell porn, but want to keep it real quiet and clean. If they are this paranoid they should go into a different business. Blocking people in Texas from viewing boxcovers is ridiculous, they now block almost everyone form viewing boxes. They want you to spend your money but treat you like a common criminal. If they can't take the heat get out of the kitchen.
I have also noticed that when ADE gets critisized on this board, a moderator always comes to ADE's defense, always. Not surprising since they advertise on ADT and are in the price search. Since when did this site become like AVN?
