I watched 2 of the movies I got from the bootleg chink.

Sherlock Holmes- I got it to see if it would be better than the first. Eh. Fight sequences are too busy and fast moving, making me lose track of who is who, much like Transformers. No Bueno

The Grey- Another Eh, I watched the whole thing hoping for something unpredictable to happen or a good ending, and got neither.

fast five.much better than number 4 with a better plot(not saying much but still)and lots of mindless car action.they throw pretty much everyone from past movies in this one too,if youve been watching them.grab some popcorn and watch this the next time its on hbo.

the man with the one red shoe.this is a movie from the 80s with tom hanks that i dont recall ever seeing before.saw it on netflix so i watched it the other night.kind of cheesy plot about a guy being lied about in a room some cia dickheads know is bugged, but it has some laughs and hanks so catch it if you can.

beastly.this is surprisingly worth a watch if you have time.they didnt dumb this down too much for its target audience.one of the olsen twins is just weird as a witch but whatever. its a little unbelievable that hudgens doesnt recognize cockboy without hair, but if superman isnt recognized as clark kent..disbelief aside if you have showtime its worth a watch.

scream 4.the irony of the poster is that the rules are pretty much the same in this one,and even has repeated killings from previous ones.i can say i liked this better than the previous ones but it was really predictable who one of the killers was,the other one came out of nowhere though and i wont spoil it.this is a popcorn movie easily,so stop playing with yourself for a little bit and watch it the next time its on.

The perfume of the lady in black Il profumo della signora in nero

Very stylish and mystifying. If you saw "Mulholland Drive" and liked it you'll like this. Recommended 3.5 out of 5 .

larry crowne.very enjoyable slice of life starring tom hanks at his most hanks.theres a decent amount of laughs thrown in and a good plot.i know lou wasnt a fan of this but i say its worth a watch the next time its on hbo.

Yeah, just watched Larry Crowne and thought it sucked.Showed promise in the beginning and then just got sappy.

Then I watched a pretty good VH1 doc about the LA Riots and West Coast Rap. Uprising: Hip hop and the LA Riots. The footage of Korean dudes shooting at looters makes it worth wafting through the chaff.

Ok, I have a problem with this. So tired of misinformation saying juicing is the solution. This guy didn't lose weight because he juiced. He lost weight because he made healthier dietary choices. If you ate these veggies solid and/or juiced them as an addition to healthy solid food, that's the key. ARRRGGGHHHH

I DVR'd it, but I'm having second thoughts on watching it. I'm getting the feeling it's going to be a cheerleader for rioting. At the end of the day the Koreans, and Welfare cheques, were the heroes of the day.

I remember seeing this, the premise was promising the lead actor just couldn't deliver. Anyone who saw his 007 will know what I am saying. The other problem was Adam Ant as the leader of the evil nomadic spirits. Fucking Adam Ant! I think this movies main problem was casting.

Frankie is right, Travolta did a decent job in Face Off, he had an excellent director, but the rest of his villain roles have been utterly forgettable. John McTiernan couldn't help Adam fucking Ant in this one though.

The man is a very successful and clever juicer salesman and entrepreneur. But as a documentary it's utter bullshit. He has no large clinical trials and basically avoids any skeptical attention. His "documentary" would be a lot better if he did not also sell juicers.

About the Mean Green juicing diet thingy... I came across this a while back and concluded that if I ever tried it, it would be for 3 weeks max. I was watching someone's online journal and their own comments were akin to them talking about torturing themselves. They hated the diet, they hated how it made them feel, and so on. That's your body telling you that you're doing something you shouldn't do.

I had an argument about that crap today.

"juicing and cleansing are good for you"

why?

"You'll feel good and it's natural"

So are lead and mercury. Got any evidence or large clinical trials?

"Cleansing removes toxins though"

So do you have some peer reviewed stuff to show me...

Repeat. Tell person they are a fucking idiot. Lose "friend".

There's no magical 'remove toxins after years of eating crap.' There are foods that are detoxifying because they're nutrient dense or high alkaline, but this 'detoxifying' comes after years of eating clean and healthy. will you see a dif before that- as in a few months in? Yes. But juice fasts are not it. The only thing juice fasts do is make people lose water weight and make standard american diet eaters think "wow, eating healthy sure was hard. I'll never do that again.'

These same shits don't seem to understand foods either. If I grew a cucumber in my garden it would be grown with tap water and rain. Tap water has fluoride in it. Fluoride is toxic. So my cucumber isn't toxin free no matter how much you juice it.

You simply can't stay where you are and "detox" from environmental toxicity. Air quality and so in. Even air in Antarctica is polluted.

^^^ That's a very good point. I made some homemade bacon a while back and my sister wouldn't let her kids have any of it because I used sodium nitrate to cure the meat with. This prevents botulism & spoilage.

She claimed that she only fed her kids "uncured" bacon, but when you look at the packaging, it's actually cured with celery juice. Celery juice contains a natural form of sodium nitrate which is chemically identical to the shit that I was using. Additionally, the level of nitrates in the celery juice varies directly with the amount of fertilizer that is used to grow the celery.

So basically you have no control over how many nitrates wind up in your supposedly "uncured' bacon. And Cook's Illustrated proved this by having a lab analyze various bacons and the one with the highest nitrate levels was AppleGate Farms "uncured" bacon.

'toxins' 'detoxify' 'natural' 'holistic' etc; basically words that you can just skip. eat right. have a cheat meal once in a while. exercise. no miracles. no 'superfoods'.

I made my own bacon a few months back and it was surprisingly easy to do and unbelievably delicious. The only difficult part is getting access to a smoker, because I live in a big city.

But it was so good it made me think of junking the legal career and becoming an "artisanal" bacon entrepreneur. The pork belly you buy for $1.50/lb. sells for $15/lb. once it's made into bacon.

I'm not going to get too involved in this, since for most people disagreeing with their nutrition beliefs is like criticizing their religion or their politics, only less fun and more annoying, but you actually seem like you are smarter than the average hippie who substitutes buzzwords about food as a substitute for knowledge.

Anyway, I broke my own vow not to get involved in these discussions because you mentioned a buzzword that is new to me and that I find strangely curious because it is an area that's a personal interest of mine. So, what is the significance of "high alkaline food"?

By the way, this is not a Gotcha type question. I'm not interested in a nutrition debate or to prove you wrong. I actually probably won't respond back at all since I'm kinda derailing the whole thread, but I have heard this term thrown around only a handful of times, all very recently, and I'm genuinely curious to know what people are talking about.

Hey there, EY. It means it has a high ph level. It's the opposite of acidic. The scale is based on food's effect after digestion. So far this site explains it best.

http://www.angelfire.com/az/sthurston/acid_alkaline_foods_list.html

Personally, I don't stress about it too much. I probably do eat a lot of foods on the acid list like saurkraut, oatmeal, coffee, and blueberries BUT I don't worry about it because I keep my wheat and sugars low (wheat and sugar are crap for many reasons, not just ph level.) And not eating, or trying to not eat, processed food- that keeps me pretty alkaline. As does my new addiction to using Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar as salad dressing! Now as I'm perusing the list again, I see I do eat mostly alkaline. Hope that helps you!

Acid helps you digest carbs. That's why humans eat salads before big meals. The acid in the salad dressing helps digest the rest of the dinner. When I have too much acid, I take TUMS.

Gia, that links to "natural cures they don't want you to know about" by Kevin Trudeau. Seriously, look at the garbage at the top of that page: anti-vax bullshit, the dangers of fluoride, chelation therapy....

thats true.i was just being a smart ass.

back to the documentary i watched, the two men did actually become healthier not just weight wise but they reversed some auto immune disease they had because they were fat.the main point i took from the movie is that a change needs to be made to achieve weight loss and maintain it.much like the book im reading,my big fat greek diet which inspired me to go on a muscle milk diet.

Alkaline heavy water cures cancer, so I would imagine that an alkaline heavy diet would be good for you. I hear that heavy oral doses of ejaculate cures menstrual cramps too. And Jew tears are a good cure for full blown AIDS, something aboutt he unique kosher salt they contain.

that reminds me of my fave Chuck Norris line from that tired meme.
"Chuck Norris' sperm cures cancer. Too bad he has AIDS".

whoa.... wait a minute. i think you need to qualify the salad dressing bit. you're not saying that we've been engineered over thousands of years to use ranch dressing as a tool to process plant life/roughage are you?.

^^^ OK, vinegar-based dressing. I read that apple cider vinegar before a meal helps keep bloodsugar levels low. It doesn't really help someone with Type 1 diabetes like I have, but it'd help fatties with Type 2.

Apple Cider Vinegar has MANY benefits. Anyway, it's yummy. And if it feels too weird as a salad dressing alone, try diluting your regular salad dressing with it. Or you can be hardcore like Holly Randall's fave model, Mosh, and take a swig of it every morning.

It's the fiber from the plant/roughage (salad) that helps digestion. Not the ranch dressing. Yikes. Eat healthier and you won't need Tums.

I've definitely had a few long-term relationships involving ejaculate and Jew tears.
