here's the answer?.
I'm no longer making porn. Since July of last year I've been in the financial services industry. My first real job since 2002. Last week 150 people got laid off and I barely made the cut to keep my job. Welcome back to the real world, eh?
From the time I began typing until now, it's been four years since I've started this book. This story was the very last thing I wrote for the book. I wasn't gonna write it because it reveals a side of human nature the people I'm writing about (including me) would prefer to be kept secret, but it would be intellectually dishonest to write a book spanning a decade in porn and leave out the HIV crisis and how people acted during it. So I wrote it. If the book ever gets published, I fully expect people to try to refute what is written, or even claim defamation of character. Fuck them.
I finished this final story a few days ago and posted it here. Out of ~400 pages, I've maybe 20 pages left to proofread in the book's final editing pass. It's fucking tedious and I just want it to be done, but at the same time I want it to be right.
Probably tomorrow email the edited manuscript to my lit agent in NY, and pray he sells the goddamn thing. He says the market is shit right now. We'll see...
