On a whim, I bought a Nikon J1 mirrorless camera, as a supplement to the Panasonic GH2 Micro 4/3 camera I've been using. It's an experiment with a smaller sensor and thus smaller lenses and camera body. The Nikon is easily in the same league when it comes to picture quality, and video is first-rate (although some of the controls, and the separate audio input, of the GH2 are missed) -- for $350 with 10-30mm kit lens the Nikon J1's an incredible bargain.
