I'll grant you that Kentucky and Ohio share a lot in common (particularly southern Ohio, Cincinnati way), but Iowa? I think you're missin' out, darlin'. I'm from southwestern Kentucky down near Nashville where it's a little different, though. It's the flat part. There's whole lotta America to see and much of it is different from your expectations.

Prepackaged seafood pasta. I'm currently hoping I didn't just give myself horrible food poisoning. I had put it in the bottom drawer of my fridge a couple days ago and didn't realize until after I ate it that the drawer is for fruits/veggies and is almost 50°. It smelled a little sour, but I thought that was just because it maybe had lemon juice in it (it didn't).

You'll be spending tomorrow like I spent today. I woke up around 7 with my guts in agony. After my second shit of the day, I figured I may as well accept my fate and I had a cheese steak for brunch, hoping to just flush my system. It worked as my cornhole has vomited another 3 times since.

My guts are a little bubbly, but not too bad yet. I nuked the meal pretty good before I ate it, so maybe that will save me.

I usually ordered from the adult menu as a child.

I ordered the stuffed cabbage and a glass of water at the Ukranian restaurant on 1st or 2nd Ave next to Sly Fox. I think it's actually called 'Ukranianian Restaurant' or something generic. I only like water with meals. I don't like wine with meals either.

Grilled Hebrew National 1/4lb. hot dog topped with ketchup and spicy pico de gallo. I'm kind of surprised I never thought to put pico de gallo on an hot dog before. It was great.

I chopped up a bunch of mangos and topped them with strawberries. Very tasty. Then shared a gluten-free vegan grilled cheese sandwich with a friend at Think Coffee in East Village. Great bread and coffee, but with most dairy alternative cheeses, not so good.

An old girlfriend from Texas sent me her homemade red sauce. Having some spaghetti and garlic toast today.

Calm down, Alex. He means marinara sauce. Not anal blood.

I've been on the latest crazy fad diet for the past week. The Whole30 diet. For 30 days, you eliminate all grains, corn, rice, legumes, soy, sugar, dairy, alcohol and processed food. This leaves you with meat/poultry/fish, veggies, fruits and healthy fats. Nuts are mostly ok, but no peanuts (they're a legume), and no packaged nuts that have peanut oil on them.

I can't believe it, but I really loved the lunch I just made. Spicy grilled chicken breast topped with homemade guacamole on a baked portobello mushroom bun:

Slathering chicken breast with guacamole is an old trick; the guacamole's super-high fat content helps cover for the dryness of the protein. It sure looks tasty.

What spices did you use on the chicken?

The chicken wasn't dry at all. I brushed it with olive oil and spiced it with two kinds of chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika and salt & pepper. It was grilled on a super hot (950°) grill for about 4 minutes per side. The guacamole wasn't meant to be a trick. I just had some avocados and pico de gallo in the fridge that I needed to use up and they combined great.

That is my favorite soup.

I'm doing it old fashioned southern today. Bologna [thick] and colby jack cheese on whole wheat with salad dressing and bread and butter pickles and jalapeno cheetos. I'm a little sick with sinus and don't feel like cooking.

Empanadas sound good today.

chicken rendang -- home-made with a gravy bought at an Asian market -- and rice and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Daily Grill email promo pork chop special. Fucking delicious. I don't rock the pork chops often, but this entire meal was about the cost of a fucking domino's pizza. It was much better than I expected.
